I was unable to attend the webinar but I just watched it, very informative, I enjoyed it greatly and learned a lot. Thank you for putting it on TH-cam for all who could not attend. Mary Lee Marchi

watching this now. sorry to just getting to these webinars.. doing actions on photo composites and retouching photos. hoping that this scripts will help. in recording my own to apply on more then a few. retouching does seem a bit touchy to try it with.

Photo retouching is tricky with scripts because the specific settings for adjusting one photo might be very different from what you would need on a different photo. That is why some people will claim that one script does not do a good job; it might all depend on the photo.

I have comment on adding your signature to the photo. Depending on the size of the photograph, as your know, the signature could end up in the lower right corner where you can't see it. You can program the script so that the signature will always be visible. There are multitude of variables that telling you different aspects of the image. You can use this information to locate the signature so that it is so many pixels from the horizontal/vertical edges, placing the signature in an area that is visible.

Yes, you can include some calculations in a script to adjust the placement (even the size) of the signature. And that is one great advantage of scripts in PSP over actions in Photoshop: it can perform math operations to adjust the result based on the image used. However, this particular webinar was meant for beginners and we didn't want to go into the coding part (could be scary for some :) )

Good guide - is there anything different in version 2021 worth looking into?

As far as scripting, no, it is the same. But there are new tools and functions that were added in 2021.

if you did something on a project. a series of commands. are they saved as history someplace? like a script? to go back to and re use? and also record if want to?

    • @CreationCassel

The steps are "recorded" in the Image Information for that particular project, however, it is not in a format that can be "replayed", but it can be read by the user. If you want to save those steps, you can open the History palette (F3) and once you are done with the various steps for that one particular effect, there is a button on the top of that palette that will be to Save Quickscript. That might be a tool for you to use.

I have psp2018ultimate and have purchased the night script from corel, it runs and applies the darkening effects but when i try to use the crescent moon or full moon script it stops after darkening and I get an error msg saying it can not open file. I have tried it saved in restricted scripts and the other folder 😣 i also uninstalled and redownloaded it to see if that helped but it didn't. Is there anything else I can try, a brush I need or do I have to save it somewhere else? Any help would be very much appreciated TIA x

Is it possible that you have a copy of the script in both the restricted scripts and the trusted scripts folder? PSP will first check the Restricted scripts, so if there is one copy left in that folder, it won't run the one in the Trusted scripts folder.

Creation Cassel thanks for replying, no, I've kept just one copy of the files and moved them to different folders rather than copy them. I've looked in all folders to make sure and also tried them in both restricted and trusted also have tried with the moon layer saved to the picture tube file where it says to save it and nothing. Still get the error msg command execution failed picture tube unable to open file. 😔 thanks again for replying though.

Creation Cassel I didn't give up and have finally got it to work, had to delete it and redownload it again though through a different link, they had sent me 2 emails so I had the link twice. I'm assuming the first link may have had problems? I don't know lol ☺

It is a possibility. But at least, you got it working. If you have any other questions about scripts, you can always get in touch with me in the Scrapbook Campus.

Is there a command to stop the screen updating while running a script?

    • @CreationCassel
      @CreationCassel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

What do you mean by "not updating the screen"?

Great lesson! Is there a video or tutorial that gets more in depth? Where to find python, cost of python, how to use python to make scripts more interactive, tweaking/customizing and updating older scripts to new psp versions? Thank you. 💖📚🎞

There is actually one paid course that is exactly for scripting with PSP. It was written by Suz Shook, a veteran in the field and you can find it here: scrapbookcampus.com/paintshop-pro-scripting-course/

Creation Cassel :: Thank you for the link to Suz’s courses. I have downloaded Python & I already had Notepad++, but it does seem daunting. I plan on learning on my own for as much as I possibly can and if need be will happily pay for a course (or more) from Suz to further my education and skills. This is going to be a fun challenge. Thank you for the inspiration and link.

One thing to remember is that you don't need to download Python separately, because the scripts in PSP use the Python library already installed on your computer (otherwise, you would not be able to use any scripts in PSP). As for Suz's course, I can tell you from experience that it is very well laid out and super simple to follow. That is actually the very course I took when I started into scripting. Taking a course in Python is different than what you can do in PSP as you have to start by relying on what PSP does (its commands, settings, variables) while a generic Python course will teach a lot about Python, it won't be very specific to PSP.
