Love the Running Cello(s)! And with the Oboe's countering...Bach always wrote for those two to sing to each other...the Arioso is another example- They did a great job here- mature musicality!

this is a strange recording for me: everything is at its place (phrasing, curation, decent interpreters, expert conductor) but it somehow feels static and kind of lifeless to me. also, the microphones do not seem to be ideally placed (which might contribute to the effect)
Beautifully done, but I dont care for the bouncy style and thin forces which are popular with the "historic" performance crowd. Karl Richter is the gold standard for a balance between too heavy and too light.

Perhaps this is some short version of Bach´s Christmas Oratorio, and so I welcome it. We are all brothers and sisters in this world, loving music.

Agree! it's "flat". Sound engineering is lacking. Still a resounding thumbs up!
