As good as any prog/rock band ever to step on a stage. These guys could and can rock with any band any place, any time. Phil E. is a hell of a drummer and too often overlooked as the engine pulling this train. Having Steve M. on stage is a heck of a bonus.
I was very happy to have been welcomed by Kansas. They brought tears to my eyes several times. I love the original six. I have grown to love Steve Morse ...Rags..Billy ...And Steve Walsh what your voice does to my soul has no words ..love you all.❤🎧🎹🎤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎻🎶🎸🎶
Philip Wainwright Billy Greer,Bass And Vocals. He and Ronnie Platt are the vocalists in the band that is touring now,and sing on the new album,The Prelude Impliced
@@martintaper7997 funny you say that, I've loved Steve since his Dixie Dregs days, he's one of the finest guitar players on the planet but, I've never liked him in Deep Purple, playing Ritchie's music anyways it just doesn't work for me. I do however like the music he's written with them. I've not heard allot of it I owned "Abandon" years ago and really liked it but I agree with you,, I don't really feel he was right for either band. Sadly Steve just quit Deep Purple to be there for his wife who's dying of cancer I wish them the best.
I SOOOOO wish I would have seen them with Steve Morse when he was touring with them. My dad saw them on new years eve in Atlanta and said it ROCKED. I don't doubt him.
Steve was there. He was on the keybords, Billy Grear picked up the lead vocals because Steve was waining .. (keep in mind Steve and the rest of the originals started in 1970 ish....
I saw Kansas Power tour 1986 in ATL at the Fox and Walsh was amazing, as good or better than the 11 times I saw them from 75-80..he came back rested with a vengeance..never forget it.
As much as I enjoyed playing any of their catalog over the years (guitarist), this is the tune I always enjoyed the most. Just "straight run of highway, put the pedal down" energy - and regardless of current band lineup it was always fun to trade solos with... well, whoever in the band. Great stuff!
My favorite version of this song.....just seems they all melted together for a jam your ass off sound check. I saw this show at Washburn University Feb. 2009. Great show.
Wow. One of the best Kansas videos out there. Love the last few minutes where the solos alternate from Rich to Kerry to Steve. Yikes! Love the tone.....awesome.
Philip Wainwright I’m replying to every comment of yours! Kerry is next to Rich (long white mustache, green guitar). Four original members on stage,Kerry,Rich,S Walsh,Phil! Along with S Morse,B Greer,D Ragsdale! Only originals not there are Robby(illness),and Dave(attending his flock,he is now an Anglican priest in Dresden Fla)
@@markscutti9682 I went to the show that night at white concert hall in topeka, when kerry came out and they played "hold on",,the whole place took notice! his "tone" was just like the old days,,,sounded like the 70s!!!
@harmonycostal Hey, just so you know.....That OTHER guitarist was only the ORIGINAL guitarist and predominate writer of almost every kansas song you've ever heard!! lol. Kerry Livgren is his name. Take care!
The only original members who are NOT here are Robbie Steinhardt and Dave Hope. (That's Steve Walsh on the keyboards back there). As good as David Ragsdale is on the violin and Billy Greer (bass) on vocals, Robbie's voice and fiddle-playing soul are what made this song the powerhouse it was. Still love this vid. Big thumbs up.
Mark Scutti sure don't look Phil.As for Kerry he's not there. The long blonde haired guitarist is Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs) If it is Phil the only original 2 are him & Rich.
Philip Wainwright Phil is playing drums! Kerry is next to Rich! There are three guitars! Steve Morse is the third! Steve Walsh is playing keyboards! There are four originals on the stage! Billy Greer bass and vocals! David Ragsdale violin! I’ve seen the original band 13x,and been a fan since 1974. I know what they look like!

my god, that was sooooo excellent!
Phil is off the chart on the drums ! He is amazing 👏👏👏👏under recognized for sure ! Love them all 🤩
40 years a big fan!
A sound check. Imagine what happens when they get serious!
Legit one of my favorite performances! These guys just having fun. That’s true musicianship.

Kansas has one of the best vocalists of all time, great singer.
goleafs51 and that's not the original singer.
Philip Wainwright Billy Greer,Bass And Vocals. He and Ronnie Platt are the vocalists in the band that is touring now,and sing on the new album,The Prelude Impliced
Billy Greer on the Robbie vocal... pretty sure he's talking about the one and only irreplaceable Steve Walsh... legendary Icon vocal.
No matter how flashy Steve Morse is, I just love Rich Williams tone and playing.
Steve Morse can certainly play but I don't like his tone, doesn't suit Kansas or Deep Purple.
Couldn't agree more
Rich all the way.

@@aschule5684 A bad fit into an other's role, just like when Scorpions lost Uli; it's a common problem filling shoes of greats.
About 5:30 mark...the look on David Ragsdale's face...as though he's thinking: " Mercy, this is so great"
I SOOOOO wish I would have seen them with Steve Morse when he was touring with them. My dad saw them on new years eve in Atlanta and said it ROCKED. I don't doubt him.

I did twice... bootlegged it the second time
Robbie Steinhardt lead vocal on album

I loved the solos with Steve Morse guitar and the violin.
PHIL starts it and the rest are on auto pilot, swear to god they d play just for fun buy they do it for us long live KANSAS THE ROCK BAND
Love this whole DVD. This song is an extra. They must of had fun, while Steve Morse was in town. No Place like Home, kickin' ass.
As much as I enjoyed playing any of their catalog over the years (guitarist), this is the tune I always enjoyed the most. Blew the house electrical on this very excellent Rock-n- Roll number. Sound check ya!
Вот это коллектив и ещё Стив Морс с ними.Канзас супер ребята!!!❤
My favorite version of this song.....just seems they all melted together for a jam your ass off sound check. I saw this show at Washburn University Feb. 2009. Great show.
Yep. This one is just vicious. Shredding at it's best.
awesome i wish i was there!

I wanna see CARRY ON WAYWARD SON from this concert.
Killer song, never heard it before. Did Ehart get a hair transplant? Last time I saw him he had a wicked skullet.
he had ben working on it for some time.....
@harmonycostal Hey, just so you know.....That OTHER guitarist was only the ORIGINAL guitarist and predominate writer of almost every kansas song you've ever heard!! lol. Kerry Livgren is his name. Take care!
You are right about the predominant writer and he is a genius as a guitar player and a keyboardist, Rich Williams is also an original member of Kansas
Livgren is very underrated guitarist, truly a great guitarist like so many others that don't get enough recognition.
shucksful
Kerry Livgren is not in this video.
Philip Wainwright Kerry is the one with the long white mustache!

I could've sworn I saw Kerry Livgren.
🤔
Rich. Williams is the only original member i see. No Eheart or Livgren. Quite professional , music & sound.
Philip Wainwright Phil Ehart is behind the drum kit! Phil,Kerry,Steve, and Rich are all originals!
Mark Scutti sure don't look Phil.As for Kerry he's not there. The long blonde haired guitarist is Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs) If it is Phil the only original 2 are him & Rich.

Mark Scutti
Kerry is not there. Walsh on keys yea ok .Morse is not an original member. Look at an early Kansas album.
Mark Scutti oh Kerry with short hair.
impressionable
i just ate five bananas
No vocal follow.....not the same song IMO
It was a sound check Steve Walsh is saving his voice for the recording of that live album
Billy😊
