- As we all know, transportation to and from airports are crazily expensive. And when you ask airport information counters, you are normally told to just take a taxi possibly because one, public transport is hard to explain to foreigners, or two, because they know we all have the money anyway.
Don't worry though, because we have made things easier for you. This video will help you get to the city center the cheapest way possible.

Hello, it is safe but you still have to be extra careful. There are tons of foreign travelers/backpackers (male & female) that you will meet everyday that you won't feel isolated :) you'll be fine, just be smart and avoid danger.

Audrey Natalia Hi Audrey, honestly we like every bun chan place we ate. We dont really remember the places.
Google can help you with that and food vlogs/blogs will also help.
But pretty much every bun cha tastes the same.

If u want to go to the Old Quarter cheaper, u can catch bus 07 (Noi Bai - Cau Giay) and bus 14 (Co Nhue - Bo Ho). Taking 2 buses for only 16.000đ (~$0.80)

Go for the public buses at the airport. Only 9,000 VND no matter where you go in the city including the old quarter

That bus looks modern, convenient, clean, and safe. I don't understand why didn't the airport officer told you this. Is it a conspiracy, maybe? She should've told you any options available. Same here in Indonesia, airport taxis are crazy! And they conspire to block online taxis (GoCar, GrabCar) to pick passengers.

Bus was pretty decent and convenient for the price :) We were not sure too but we thought maybe it was because of language barrier and trying to explain to a foreigner would be hard so they'll rather tell you to take a cab, LOL!
yeah public transport comes first if you are on a budget and not in a hurry. hahaha
Unfortunately, we don't have videos about public transport in Hanoi. When we were in Hanoi, we rented a motorbike to roam around the city (best way to travel southeast asia). If you don't know how to ride a bike, most tourist places can be reached by walking. Or you can take a grab or similar services. Last option would be to take a cab and make sure you don't get cheated. hahaha

Restaurant for Indians? There are so many things to eat in Vietnam. If you don't eat beef or pork, you can eat chicken with rice or noodles, vegetables, or even eat at Indian restaurants.
Clothing? You can wear whatever you like.
Safety? Wherever you go, even in your own country, It's always a good idea to be cautious and alert with your surroundings. Use your good sense and sound judgement in practical matters.
Hostels and hotels? This will depend on your budget but most of the hotel/hostels in Vietnam are fine. Check the reviews online before you book anything. You can also look around the city, pick the hotel/hostel that you like and book on the spot.
Safety of Luggage? Most of the time, when you stay in hotel/hostel, there is a vault that you can place your valuables. Book a private room because if you are not comfortable sharing a room with other tourist then you will have a stressful day worrying about your luggage. Book a nice hotel/hostel.

If you take the public bus it would take about 40 mins to an hour depending on the traffic. Not the fastest but definitely the cheapest (aside from walking) for only US$1++.

Hi Lidiwna, we can't remember the exact name of the hostel that we stayed at. But there are plenty of hostels/hotels in OLD QUARTER Hanoi. So make sure to book your accommodation there. If you have plenty of spare time, you can even hostel hopping and compare the prices. Hi Conorshead, we exited one station before Hanoi Opera house. You can ask the bus driver that you are going to old quarter too. :) All the best.
Do not worry, you can ask the students for directions on the bus or use google map (the bus has wifi). Sometimes driver's mates are not very helpful because they do not know English.

Hello, during our time there, bus tickets were sold inside the bus and we paid cash. We always make sure we have cash in small amount when we travel to developing countries, especially when we take public transport. Less hassle and more practical :)

We dont remember anymore but it’s not a long journey. You can ask the driver to call you when you reach the old quarter
