Now you have done it! The great Gino Vannelli is phenomenal. "People Gotta Move" "Brother To Brother" and definitely "I Just Wanna Stop!" are must listens!
❤ Thanks! I was trying to recall his other hits! I'm 60, it's hard to remember lyrics without cheats! Played and sung so many...my brain is full? I'm sticking with that! 😂
GINO VANNELLI - " I Just Wanna Stop ( 1978 ) " this one should be next on your list , the music it self is incredible and when he gets to the chorus it's like Fireworks 🎇 absolutely one of Canadas greatest singers , of all time plus a Sax 🎷 solo section too
Gino Vannelli is a great Canadian singer & songwriter who had several hit songs in the 70's-80's. People Gotta Move", "I Just Wanna Stop", "Wild Horses" etc.
I JUST WANNA STOP is my favorite of Gino’s. But this one here is also really great! You gotta love those Italian-Canadians…….said this Italian-American! 😉
You can't go wrong with a gorgeous Italian guy born and raised in Montreal who can write and sing. This song was produced by all three Vannelli brothers...Gino, Ross and Joe, released in 1981 on his 7th album Nightwalker. It was his second top-ten hit in the U.S. during the spring and summer of 1981, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached No. 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in the U.S. He's still touring today! Love him!
When I was a couple of years younger I could not stand him ,I thought he was the maple syrup luv song guy but I have have found the light and I have an original 1978 lp pristine version of Brother To Brother and if anyone tried to take it I would go to jail , It is so damn brilliant
Elton John was the first white performer on Soul Train then David Bowie was second then AWB average white band they we're singing live no lip sync live !! Then Gino Vannelli all of them appeared in 1975
Steely Dan and Gino pretty much cornered the market for jazz/rock with a singer. I wish there were more options because that approach definitely reaches me.
I have loved Gino Vannelli's music since I first heard him on American Bandstand in about 1975. I immediately bought his album Storm At Sunup, which is excellent. His Brother to Brother album, is by far his best. Gino does torch music like no one does. He is incredible!
Phenomenal voice. There are a number of excellent songs by Gino Vannelli. Highly recommend _Wheels Of Life_ and _I Just Wanna Stop_ being at the top of the list. Thanks for reacting to this one, you guys. I'm pleased you enjoyed. Another Canadian you simply _must_ check out is Amanda Marshall, and if I had to pick one or two of her songs for you to react to first, they would be _Birmingham_ or _Let It Rain_ . You won't regret it.
@@terryknott2193 That's actually my personal favourite of hers! (I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and she'd probably be more recognized for tunes like _Birmingham, Let it Rain,_ and maybe even _Dark Horse_ .) But yes! I'd be really happy if Jay and Amber reacted to _Beautiful Goodbye_ for sure.
Gino is the real deal. He's still performing. My personal fave is "The Wheels Of Life: but there's so much to choose from. It's the feeling above all else. It's just very positive, uplifting, and nusically sophisticated, not trite. he's pure class.
Yes hubby and I saw him last month and we are flying out for another one of his concerts in October. I have loved his voice since the first time I heard him in the 70s. And then when I saw how handsome he was...oh my goodness! He is such a precious soul. Sadly he just lost the love of his life, his wife of 50 years to cancer. She was just as beautiful as he is handsome. Striking, beautiful couple, who had a handsome son as well! It's going to be a tough time for him for quite awhile. I pray God blesses him abundantly with peace and loving moments with their son Anton.
This guy is an absolute musician, through and through. His albums are so diverse and deep. "Brother to Brother" and "Appaloosa" are jazz/rock tour de forces; "I Just Wanna Stop" is a classic; and to scratch Jay's 80s itch, "Black Cars" and "Wild Horses."
I can't even begin to describe how much I love this song. It's one of those forgotten 80's songs, and one of my absolute faves! I dedicated it to a gal I liked back in the day. I'm glad you got to hear it!!! 🙂
I was first turned on to Gino Vannelli when I was a freshman in college. I was dating this girl who thought I looked like him and she played me his 1976 album, "Gist of the Gemini," when I fell in love with his powerful vocals. The standouts on that album for me were "Love of My Life" and "Fly Into This Night." His biggest hit single, "I Just Wanna Stop" is also a great song and performance. Please check them out. He is without a doubt one of the most underrated male vocalists to come out of the 1970s. His last album to date was released in 2019.
While I also love that song, either one is a good start for them - obviously by their reaction to this since they loved it. So, there’s no real “should” here. This worked. And I’ll bet they get to that next.
I am so glad you both dig this! I still have all my Gino albums on vinyl beginning in 1976!! The band is half his family...three brothers total, which includes Ross Vanelli on piano. The band are really jazz musicians as you will hear as you deep dive more. A couple of his tunes from the 70s I would suggest are Appaloosa and the title track from the album Brother to Brother.
THIS!!! This is why I'm here. I had completely lost this song to history and am so glad to hear it again. Teen heart throb for sure. Thank you so much to all the people responsible for requesting this gem and thank you for reacting to it.
Listening to him reminds me of my childhood and youth. It was difficult for Canadian singers to hit the US Billboard charts despite their talent. Besides this being such a pretty song, he crescendos singing the words ‘this shell’ and it sounds like the name Michelle, so I get a kick out of it. He is so well loved in Canada and was truly underrated.
☺️ Loved your reaction! And I love Gino Vanelli, too! His voice is so powerful. Please listen to “Wheels of Life”, “I Just Wanna Stop”, and “People Gotta Move”🙏🏽. Thanks for the great reaction guys. I love your positive energy 😍.
Oh wow!!! You should hear him sing "It Hurts To Be In Love"...And " I Just Wanna Stop"- PLUS the drum solo on "Brother to Brother" really kicks gluteus maximus.😁 But folks! The whole B To B album is killer! " I Feel Like Flyin'" ! Oh and ***"The Wheel of Life".🥰
Hey guys! Congrats on hitting 500k subs! Next stop, 1 mil. I've been following since almost the beginning, and you both deserve all the praise and accolades! So proud of all your success!!🥳🥂🎉
Search Gino sings to the Pope, "Parole Per Mio Padre". Have a handkerchief close-by as it's a song he wrote for his father after his death. That's what I love about Gino, he loves family so much that he writes and sings about them. Absolutely Precious!
SO GLAD you are finally listening to Gino!! One of the most amazing voices ever and he really deserved more hits. I think this is my favorite reaction by the two of you - you were both so into it and I was right there with you. Definitely one of the most underrated singers ever! One of his songs HIGHLY recommend was what was probably his last big hit - "Black Cars" - very '80s with a vibe!
I almost forgot all about Gino, his voice is so beautiful!! Yes Amber we girls that grew up in the 70's had the most amazing music of any generation!! Wish you and I could take quick trip back to the 70"s together!! LOL :)
Thanks for the reaction. As an old drummer I really enjoy playing to "Brother to Brother". Gino always had world class musicians in his band. Saw him recently in concert. Still sounds phenomenal.
I JUST WANNA STOP is my favorite of Gino’s. But this one here is also really great! You gotta love those Italian-Canadians…….said this Italian-American! 😉
I've always loved GV. He is not only a fabulous singer and gorgeous man, but can play all the instruments in his band. It is 1/26/04, and he is still entertaining and sounds the same as he always did! It was fun watching y'all's reaction!❤
Finally! Gino is a great songwriter and has sold over 20 million albums worldwide! He's from Montreal and has influenced a lot of singers. First more upbeat stuff check out Wild Horses or Black Cars.
Man this takes me back to my childhood! This man can sing so well. He's got a voice range that is amazing. My mother was in love with Gino Vannelli. You need to hear his first big hit in the United States which is called "Stop"
From my home town of Montreal, Mr Gino Vannelli was a staple of my teenage years. Listening to Gino on those hot, humid Montreal nights was magical ! 🥰
So many great hits from this artist. The ladies always gave him the Tom Jones treatment. He, his brother, Joe, and the studio musicians he worked with produced some amazing songs. Anything from the album The Gist of the Gemini will do.
This song was Gino Vannelli's second and last Top 10 hit in America. The song peaked at the #6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the spring of 1981. Three years earlier, his first Top 10 in America was a song called I Just Want To Stop. That song peaked at the #4 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 spot during the fall of 1978. Jay and Amber, that song you two should react to. But Living Inside Myself is a definitely banger indeed!!!
Finally, a reaction to Gino! Absolutely loved him and all his music. So sexy and smooth. It Hurts To Be In Love is probably my favorite. And for something more up tempo - Black Cars. But do the video versions so everyone can appreciate his handsome face 😁(yes I had major crush on him). Thanks for this!
Now you have done it! The great Gino Vannelli is phenomenal. "People Gotta Move" "Brother To Brother" and definitely "I Just Wanna Stop!" are must listens!

Mama coco as well !
And of course "Wheels of Life"!
I Just Wanna Stop is similarly dramatic to Living Inside Myself, Black Cars would be a nice change up.

You haven’t’ heard Gino Vannelli until you’ve heard - I Just Wanna Stop
He is the man!!! A True Musician and Legend!!! He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
Steely Dan and Gino pretty much cornered the market for jazz/rock with a singer. I wish there were more options because that approach definitely reaches me.

YES !! Gino Vannelli the Montreal legend, great pick ! - I Just Wanna Stop is definitely a must with a great sax solo
“I just wanna stop” is definitely the next one you want to check out.

check out the live version on TH-cam titled *'Gino Vanelli - I Just Wanna Stop (live) 1991'* on 'Arizona Studio' channel, - great version!
