  • Do you love the trend of vintage looking pottery? You can find it everywhere, from Pottery barn to Target. These textured vases have also caught my eye!
    If you've been following along for a while you know in the spring we shared how to create a faux stone looking bunny for Easter. • Re-Purpose Thrift Stor...
    As I was pulling out my fall decorations this year, I thought I'd like to add a tall vintage looking textured vase to my fall display.
    A while back I picked up a tall vase at the thrift store for $2. I knew it would be perfect for this project.
    Watch and see what I used to create this gorgeous textured vase with supplies I already had on hand.

      So far I did as well, going to finish watching to see what transpires.☺️
      Well, in my opinion the “taupe” color was the same as the base color. Oh well, it’s beautiful. Everyone achieves beauty in their own steps.
      Thank you for this video! I just purchased my first vase to try this technique with.

    Bonjour magnifique je peux savoir c'est quoi le mélange que vous avez appliquer sur le vase s'il-vous-plaît 7 pattes

    • @2thesunnyside
      @2thesunnyside  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mixture is joint compound (sheetrock mud), water and dirt to give it texture. Add a little water to thin the mixture to a spreadable consistency, and add as much or little dirt as you want for added texture.

    What happened to the wet sponge, you didn’t show how to use it with the wet sponge 🧽, are you suppose to smooth it out?

    • @2thesunnyside
      @2thesunnyside  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Analyn, that's a great question. I talked about it in the video, I didn't actually film this part, but I let the drywall mud start to harden up a little bit and then I used the sponge to dap it a little bit to knock off any peaks and smooth out the texture a bit. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Wow, there's a lot of stuff on that vase! Way to much joint compound. You're better off going lighter and using your hands wearing nitrile gloves. Go around the vase instead of dabbing which, creates a bumpy build up. Go all around the vase with the compound. You can add coffee grinds or paint. You will get a textured look, but it will be more like something you'd find at West Elm. Textured, refined, aged, distressed. Don't dab on the joint compound.

    • @2thesunnyside
      @2thesunnyside  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input. There are definitely A LOT of different methods and desired outcomes around. We can picture how beautiful your method would look.
