Skating is hard and frustrating man, it’s obviously a good rule of thumb to not do that, we all try not to, but sometimes you’re just gonna get too frustrated and not be able to help it. John also clearly tries to never cuss and keep a clean mouth for his vids but you hear him sometimes get super mad and let out profanity
The music when you couldn’t get that trick was great, enjoyed the session and glad you nailed it the next day. Why back to Manhattan? You’re right many of us aren’t skaters. I dig the content and appreciate that you set a good example for up and coming skaters. You aren’t getting high, drunk or disrespecting people like some skaters. Keep it up John!

One of my favorite videos yet! You always make the tricks look so easy, I’ve skated since 12 and took forever just to Ollie then progress to heel flips and shove it’s, 180’s, manuals and grinds. I have maybe 5-10 tricks in my bag but I normally hurt myself or have a hell of a time landing what I want. It was great to see you keep going at it and show that you are not magical and even you struggle sometime! Much love my man!!

@John Hill, I'm not sure if you'll read this, but if you find yourself unable to get a good exposure when it's really bright out, try using neutral density filters. They allow you to control the brightness of your exposure without effecting the color. I love your content BTW and watching you skate always gets me pumped to skate! Keep up the good work!
Man I remember watching a lot of your daily Vlogs years back. YT sent me back recently and I'm glad! I don't skate, and while I admit it's really cool to see how a professional does it, it's more than that. You're an awesome dude and seeing you do what you do, talk about your life and how you progress daily is one of the most motivational things can watch rn. I'm sure I'll get lost in the sea of comments, but my input as a non-skater who watches your video: I am 29 years old, and have always had the mindset of "I should try skating one day" as I love watching it (have been watching X-Games since I was a wee lad), but suffer from mental fatigue insanely fast. As such, I have walked into skate shops throughout my 20s, but could never pull the trigger and buy a board. Now that I am turning 30 in the next month, I fear my body doesn't have the ability to take the abuse of skating. I love watching skate channels and seeing others grow. I will spend my time trying to figure out what I can do in my personal power to Progress Daily.

The reason you have issues with that obstacle is due to the extreme level of expertise you've got. That obstacles purpose is to be useful for beginners. I learned how to drop in, rock to fakie, and ride on 50-50 on one of those and it gave me good confidence and I took it straight to the bowl after that and it went smoothly.

Focus on catching with your back foot and focus on keeping your shoulders parallel with the board so it doesn’t turn into either a backside or frontside flip
Try to flick the board so it stays under you, if it goes forward then put your front foot farther from the center. If you aren’t landing than spend some tries on landing with your back foot. If there is a bench you can easily grab onto then that’ll help with commitment issues. If I learned it in a week than you can too. You got this
