Thank you for making this video. I’ve made this mistake in the past.
What’s the minimum time I should wait to reply back if it’s not an SOS email?

I'd suggest waiting at least 1-2 hours. If it helps, you could always draft out your reply first and schedule it to be sent later.

I strongly disagree with the ideas in this video. Responding to emails quickly isn’t a bad thing-it’s actually a strength. Clients value responsiveness and see it as a sign that someone is efficient and reliable. Saying that replying quickly means you’re underworked just doesn’t add up. Honestly, it feels like you might not have experience in corporate. When you’re juggling a ton of clients, you have to get stuff done. Proper email management is key-figuring out what needs an immediate reply, what can wait, and what comes after the urgent stuff is how you stay on top of things.

To be clear, I agree with what you said about responsiveness being a strength. It's just that being in corporate - and when I say "corporate", I mean a salaried employee, not an entrepreneur or business owner - requires a fair bit of "managing expectations" or influencing people's perception of you. And sometimes being too fast can be to your detriment. Sometimes, not always. It depends on the situation and context.

@@YourBestFriendAtWork Again, I don’t think this really matters-it’s one of the least important aspects of handling email. If anything, the takeaway seems to be 'don’t be careless with your responses' or 'think things through,' but that’s just common sense. Deliberately slowing down your responses only makes your job harder in the long run. Honestly, the difference between someone typing 21 words per minute and someone typing 100 is monumental-one is effectively five times slower at their job.
