Man Faces Backlash For Hugging Officers In Riot Gear During Charlotte Protests

- In the middle of all the violence one man was giving away free hugs. Rioters filled the Charlotte, North Carolina streets protesting the shooting death of 43-year-old Keith Scott. The Free Hug Project was one way people were trying to spread the message of love during a critical moment fueled by fear and hate. Some protestors were outraged by the hugs but eventually understood. At one point during the night one officer on duty had to say thank you for his hard work. #InsideEdition
Imagine actually trying to heal bonds rather than yelling RACIST at people.
That is what the world needs. I'm sick of all the finger pointing and name calling, it isn't helping anyone.

EXACTLY! It won't fix the deep underlying problems, but it can ease tensions a bit. And it may just be what someone needs to keep going another day.

Well to be fair hugging police officers won't really facilitate change. This is definitely a good message in these tense times but if everyone were as non-confrontational as him no one would be accountable and therefore nothing would be done.

Kirin Yardberry I get what you’re saying, but I disagree. I think one of the biggest reasons why police shootings happen is because there is a very strong disconnect between civilians and law enforcement. Something as simple as a hug could help change that though.
