North Fork of the Eagle River Trail is in Chugach State Park in the Eagle River area approximately 6 miles East on Eagle River Road. There are multi-use trails along the river and hikes that lead to various scenic views of the Chugach Mountains and Eagle River.
    According to dnr.alaska.gov
“Chugach State Park is located in Southcentral Alaska mostly within the Municipality of Anchorage. The park contains approximately 495,000 acres of land and is one of the four largest state parks in the United States.
The region contains extensive ocean shoreline, abundant lakes, massive glaciers and ice fields. The park's westernmost boundary lies in the western foothills of the Chugach Mountain Range and is a mere seven miles to the east of downtown Anchorage. The park is further defined by the Knik Arm on the north, Turnagain Arm on the south, and Upper and Lower Lake George and Chugach National Forest on the east.”
The white with red flowers in this video is poisonous. Please get a wildflower book for identification if hike regularly.
You benefit from developing coping strategies that reduce the effect of a lifetime of stress and trauma. Proactive engagement of movement in nature forms an effective take-charge approach to building a buffer against the culmination of addiction, mental health symptoms, daily stress and trauma.
Toxic and chronic stress is being researched to understand the impact on multiple generations. The effect of stress on physical, environmental and emotional stability of the care-giving generation and their offspring or elders has found that DNA is one part of the equation.
Statistically, Having a history of chronic stress increases the vulnerability to mental health symptoms and compromising of the immune system. Addiction is a negative coping skill learned to use for distraction and to provide relief from physical and emotional pain. Substance abuse damage can affect neurological connections resulting in changes to brain and body.
