Oh, there's no motion capture in Arcane, it's all animated by hand. It's actually insane.
thats why it looks so good. motion capture looks nice yea but is always has this certain aspect that makes it weird
TBF, a lot of it uses reference footage. As an animator, myself, trust me. Reference footage helps a TON.
@@blackshard641 Oh yeah, I'm a visual artist, I know how important references are. And not that there's anything wrong with motion capture, either, it's just that Fortiche went an extra step, and it's that they managed to animate the facial expressions as good as they did.
@@blackshard641true, I love when they showed their process in bridging the rift. They have a room where the guys act out the scene that they use as reference.
I like to think of season 1 of Arcane as a full trilogy of 1.5 hour movies
The music hitting at the end never gets old
This episode is probably the most beautifully animated piece of television (music, animation, writing, etc) til this day. The emotion is portrayed so raw. How real it feels makes it even more tragic, especially for those that relate a lot with powder
Excited to see you go through the rest of the series !
We getting Vinland Saga soon?
"That could be the end of the season" that was just the prologue my guy, aint seen nothing yet
The facial animation and voice acting of Powder and Vi at the end was just perfect. It always gets me
3 weeks no Vinland that’s crazy
Bro, where are the Vinland Saga reactions :(
Oh yeah. This is the episode where I knew this was gonna be special.
Arcane is 3D models that are then hand painted for all of the textures, lighting, and effects. No mocap. All hand animation.
been waiting for this
Silco's aim is not to overthrow the council, but to separate the part of the city on the other part of the bridge as a new city, instaed of it being a poorer part of Piltover at the moment
You called it straight out mate, in a great way! This show is 9 episodes. Set in 3 episode Arcs! So this is epic end of the 1st Arc 🙌🏾 ⚡️
Finally don't have to be scared of spoiling anyone (so I can finally ask): How is it that most of these great stories (Arcane, Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga), the main protagonist went through something traumatic and lost someone? Crazy coincidence - but it works! So... writers, continue writing depressing stories, I guess...
Arcane season 1 is made of 3 acts of 3 episodes : episode 3 was the end of act 1. In a sense, it was a sort of a "season finale". You have two other "finales" in this season ;)
(also, there is 0% of motion capture in Arcane, it was all animated by hand, keyframed. This shit is amazing)
YES
Where's the Vinland season 2?
I loved this episode. Looking forward to Vinland returning!
this is keyframe animation. no motion cap.🙂
This is where the season truly begins. I've been dying for you to get to this point so I can finally say the "tropeyness" of the first two episodes was shorthand to 1. get you up to speed quickly on a lot of worldbuilding and character relationships, and 2. give you the false sense of security that you're watching a young person overcome adversity to become a hero.
In order for this moment to hit, you need to understand the psychology of all the characters: Powder is emotionally needy and filled with self-loathing over her repeated accidental failures, Vi wants to lead others like an adult but struggles with repressed emotion and anger issues, Vander is regretful and fearful of his own potential for monstrousness, Silco is bitterly vindictive over unresolved injustice and abandonment. You need to understand why abandoning Powder sets off overwhelming anxiety and frustration, why otherwise loving sister Vi would strike Powder and validate her worst fears ("you're a Jinx") and then need to step away to compose herself, and why a seemingly heartless villain like Silco would feel compelled to take in an abandoned child. None of that would work without the groundwork being laid.
I won't say that Arcane doesn't give itself over to melodrama. It does. Where it shines is the depth of its characters and the incredible artistry of its animation. Get ready. It keeps getting better.
I think this episode is among the greatest non season climax episodes ever. up there with episodes of Game of Thrones like season 4 ep 2.
first episode: "you are not a jinx, mylo is wrong", she tought she was even before she hear them, and vi was the only trying show some love, now she left her too after rising her biggest fear "you are a jinx, mylo was right".
To Mylo, in the most stressful moments of his life, after he unhesitatingly decided to go with Vi, despite hearing about Benzo being torn apart:
"Do something useful and stop being annoying".
Vander: "Mylo, take a breath, you can do this."
Mylo succeeds.
Where the vinland saga at?
A "bit" spoilery for those who only seen the Last of Us TV show.
The best part about this episode is that Mylo won’t be a waste of space anymore. Good riddance. 😇
