The Andrew Oldham Orchestra morphed into the Aranbee Pop Symphony Orchestra "probably not actually" directed by Keith Richards on Oldham's brand new Immediate label in 1966. The Rolling Stones band likely did not play a lick on any of the albums, Oldham just used their name to promote his struggling new label before they found Small Faces etc. It was all performed by UK session musicians. Interesting fact is all licensing from Sony credited APSO not TAOO. And they changed the track name to "Bittersweet Symphony" after the Verve made it famous.
Verve got screwed. If the Rolling Stones did the right thing off the bat, we may have had several great Verve albums. Instead it lead to infighting and division.
@@MusicMongoose Yeah, the gesture from Jagger & Richards is by no means common. There's not much camaraderie in the music publishing industry. For example, Neil Innes had to share 50% of the Rutles song royalties with Lennon-McCartney following an objection from the publishing company

This is true - it was mostly in the hands of ABKCO. Although I suppose the Stones could've kicked up more of a fuss if they wanted to!
