So many jewels in this episode . Watching mixes in PT as a logic user makes me want switch solely for the audiosuite function to effect clips separately!
@@r_luren it's not as easy to use in my opinion, but logic does have a similar feature. Control-click a selected region, then choose Processing > Apply Selection-based Processing from the shortcut menu. I think the key command is like control-option-P or something like that to open the window.
Teezio is a genius. The song "on my mama" is proof of how clean yet hard sounding a song can be. Thanks for all the gems dished out here. The game changer for me is making changes in bits.🙌
14:27 Great advice! It's unfortunate that many people aren't taught early on to use references to understand how things should sound. That way, when certain elements are already present in the mix, they don’t have to be added again. This gap in mixing fundamentals is challenging to teach, especially because you might receive a record from a famous producer or engineer where certain things are already done. But for a home producer or engineer, they might get something that's barely there, and the techniques you mentioned may not be enough.
Cutting note peaks with freq grab in Pro-Q3 and serial compressing nearly everything. I bet if you compare some tracks level matched to the unprocessed versions it sounds better/more intact without processing.
@@the_handsome_bearright? I feel like whenever I do this myself, I inevitably end up feeling like I made the drums sound worse and I end up taking the compressors off, but there’s gotta be something to it, right? I’ve loved every Teezio mix I’ve ever heard
I was wondering why he did those three notches when he first started EQing the snare, instead of just a high shelf? I wonder if those little areas of frequency are making that much of a difference?
@@TEEZIO1 Yo Teezio! You mean to tell me that the VT-5 (while in the off position) is still coloring the sound/ hitting the tubes? I've been using mine for a while now but this never occurred to me to try this. Do you usually prefer the off position or is it just a move you do for louder material?
Aye this was an awesome session to watch Teezio do his thing. Anyone know where to find that chair that he's sitting in??? I'm looking to upgrade my studio chair. When we getting a David 'YUNGIN' Kim mix session & Bainz?!? Thanks JFTR! Peace, Love + Mix On! =)
How did he spectrum grab multiple frequencies at 32:10 and the spectrum stay up? Every time i grab 1 frequency that spectrum disappears and i have to hold the mouse at the bottom again to get it to reappear in pro q 3
theres a button on the bottom of the pro-q where you can freeze the spectrum at the time when you toggle it on, you might be able to click on the graph itself in the purple area or while holding shift/ctrl maybe
He seems to be reaching for the Neutron EQ to make broader boosts and cuts, and Pro-Q when making more surgical adjustments. This makes sense since Pro-Q is very transparent, whereas the Neutron EQ is emulating an analog EQ. If you look in the top left when it's open, he has it set to "soft saturation." As far as Pro-C vs RComp, he said himself in the video that he loves and would always use Pro-C, but joked that when people are watching he uses RComp so it doesn't feel or look like he's just using the same plugin over and over. The main functionality is similar anyway, but Pro-C has some cool sidechain features and a much nicer UI. I'm guessing he feels like it's a slightly better algorithm too, since he only used Pro-C on the main vocals.
@@ryankelly8488 thank you very much bro! appreciate it a lot! That's wild with the soft saturation feature on neutron. Is it emulating a SSL Console? I almost never reach for the pro c except for some occasional sidechain. Do you like to use it or do you prefer other compressors?
Bro at 3:46 u Started to eq the drums. My question is how do I know that the amount of the low Kick frequencies Are enough or not enough? So that it is banging on my phone like in the car . I Need to know how much low is Perfect. Or do u Go just out for feeling? If it feels like a good Kick it is good ? How do I know ?
It’s so easy to learn from these, tht kick compression technique I mean everything… soothe on everything lol. Him monitoring the meter is interesting is he shooting for a certain margin?
Gold clip , is it better than StandardCLIP or Kazrog KClip 3? Because i can see big hype arround Schwabe Gold Clip .. So my question is does it makes difference in comparison with StandardCLIP , because the price difference is more than 200 Euros… Thnx and i enjoyed watching thys methodology , Respect 👋
Hey, it is just different. Standard clip works very well. Gold Clip works very well too, but has 3 different clipping algorithms and 3 different box tones to choose from. Also, the biggest selling point is the unique "gold" effect, an algorithmic volume boost that's similar to oxford's inflator - no other plugin has this. There are two types of curves to choose from with that effect as well. Lastly, there's an "alchemy" effect that is advertised to help smooth out the harsh artifacts that can be introduced when clipping. For all the additional functionality and the proprietary algorithm, they charge more. They offer a rent-to-own if you're interested but the price tag is too high. With all that said, the edits to the kick drum done in this video could be almost exactly replicated with standard clip.
He's not; he has a monitor controller to his left. The output of his master bus is 1+2, and if you look you can see the reference mix is routed out of 3+4. To check the reference, he's hitting a physical button on the monitor controller to change the source, so that channels 3+4 go to the speakers.
exactly what i was thinking, im thinking its the integrated number because before it was hitting -13 when he said it but then once he made changes it was hitting around -16, and i seen in another mix video he did he started witht he kick and that kick was hitting around -16 on the same meter.,

I never realised people processed digital drums like that, static samples hit with 3 layers of compression. Its interesting, at least
Yeah I was wondering why he uses the compressors on the sample drums but I guess it's just to catch peaks cause he's using non character compressors
@@the_handsome_bear Yeah, I guess to lower the "crest factor" so he can hit his 9 LUFS or whatever
