    Once again thank you for your very informative videos ! Your narration has a comforting effect while viewing so keep up the great work ! I was wondering with many sights involving mountainous nature, are there predatory animals in the area that may appear out of nowhere ? The remoteness of the environment and with a toddler in tow, the more information attained will assist me in deciding if the risk factor would outweigh the beautiful experience. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question ....

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your words for my video! I like light hiking, so you might see more of nature related destination in my library. I understand how precious your family is for you, so it's not a dumb question at all! :) However, when it comes to the risk, it's not something I can tell you with confidence from my single experience as it greatly depends on each traveler's experience. With that in mind, I really haven't heard that bears come close to Mt.Takao as they avoid humans usually. But Japan does have bears even in mountains in Tokyo. Something you can do to minimize the risk of animals in Takao is taking the cable car, and avoid going in to the area with less people. I also posted a video about Nikko, but Nikko have more signs of bears alert, and many hikers carry bells to let bears know that humans are walking there. Again, this is only if you hike or go off the tourist route. Again, thank you for your kind words.

    Good day, Kengo-san! 🙂 I think I will ride the cable car back and forth, as I would be too lazy to go up the summit. I love mountains, but not walking... 😀 With so many tourists in the background, did you go there on a weekend..?
    You had stunning shots with the autumn leaves, and they are refreshing to look at. And, with you passing through the hole in the temple, surely, you will have many more wonderful and fantastic travels soon. 🙂
    PS: Cute pug, Kengo-san - I think it is a delight playing with your pet dog! 🙂

Haha, I think cable car is also fun! You can go up to the peak without any preparation, just like going shopping in Shinjuku. Yes, the color of tree looked amazing and I'm glad I could show them to you. :)

    How about in winter? Is it recommended destination?

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you like nature, it might be a good place to go. Mt.Takao might be a little more cooler than central Tokyo, but you can visit there as long as it doesn't get snow. But it also depends on what other destinations are. If you have plan of going lots of other places in Japan, you might find it not so worth to spend a day. I think Takao is good especially if you are only staying in Tokyo. :)

      @@tokyokenchan thank you for the insight!! I will definetly put this as 1 of my destination later when i stay in Tokyo. I've tried 1 day trip to Hakone before from Tokyo and i think Mt. Takao will worth to try too. :D

  • @Omni0404
    @Omni0404 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I was so excited when I learned about Mount Takao! One of my favorite things to do in the US is walk the nature trails in our state parks. I wanted to be able to do the same in Japan and see all the trees, insects, and plants. I was worried that this wouldn't be possible staying in Tokyo but I was wrong! I'm planning to go close to the end of May or first week of June and will be spending a full day here if my legs can handle it lol
    How common is it for Japanese people to use bug repellent with deet? I always wear it when I'm outdoors but I know it stinks really bad. I don't want to be the stinky tourist!

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that's great you like nature trails! Yes, Takao is close to Tokyo so it's easy to do a day excursion from Tokyo. The sun set late in June, so you can explore a lot. You might go up to the peak of Mt.Takao quickly, but it's possible to go deeper trails. I'll probably talk about more different trails near Tokyo by the time you visit. I think it's not a problem to use deet. They sell variety of bug sprays with deet (max 30%) and Icaridin here too. Thank you for watching!
