And that final "Listen" wasn't planned or rehearsed. Everyone suddenly realized at once that it was over. An incredible instance of musicians vibing together.
One of my favorite songs, one I would want played at my funeral. I love how the song is able to be both sad/melancholoy and uplifting/optimistic at the same time. The imagery is just a poignant picture of the struggle of life, and of not giving up, even tho its very easy, frequently, to feel like giving up.
I first heard this song looking at a music video about Soy Panday skating on dailymotion, that was 12 yrs ago or something. I fell in love with that song, it was a very good video totally encapsulating the atmosphere of freedom carried by this song. I recommend you watch it. Love this song, a great leagacy.
Fav track maybe tied w riding with the ghost on one of my most listened records. Got it on promo and so happy I saw them live. Wish i knew at the time jason molina was metal. I would have chatted him up. I was very versed in metal + good looking in an awkward no makeup kind of way. A devastating combo to a certain type. Now frumpy and middle aged tho, so just let me have that ok?
The people in the chat yelling "off key" and "bad vocals" are the worst kind of art critics.
Fun fact: that was recorded live with 12 people in one take
