    Can you pls explain why the control file is restored after restoring the datafiles? Can we first restore the controfile from service and then restore the db from service?

      Because we need to refresh the control file after restoration of datafile

      @@OracleDBAOnlineTraining can we first restore controlfile, catalog the standby data files location, switch database to copy and then start the db restore form service?

    why you need to restore control file and also why noredo

      I just tested and no need to restore control file

      NOTE: Because the online redo logs are lost, you must specify the NOREDO option in the RECOVER command.
      You must also specify NOREDO if the online logs are available but the redo cannot be applied to the incrementals.
      If you do not specify NOREDO, then RMAN searches for redo logs after applying the incremental backup,
      and issues an error message when it does not find them.
