when I was a younger man id say maybe 20 or 21, a little over 25 years ago, I lived in a trailer way out in the country and I was home alone and had inherited a old 30/30 that I knew for a fact had been sitting in a closet for well over 20 years and I assumed it was empty, wrong think, lol I didnt rack it or anything, I pulled the trigger and apparently there was a round in the chamber, it was a old round and it still worked, long story short, I destroyed my stove lol. luckily it wasn't gas, it was an electric range. I thought my landlord was going to be pissed, but no she said just buy a new one, and it'll be fine, then she laughed and laughed, from that moment on I always always always check and recheck the chamber lol.
@@woll2633 bro, that thing was so loud in that trailer lol my ears rang for a week!! it was my grandfathers and it literally sit in the closet for as long as I could remember, and I never dreamed it had one in the pipe, I was sitting on the couch and was looking at it and just squeezed the trigger and BAM, the bullet went one way (hit the stove) and the rifle went the opposite way and I went backwards, first thing I did was grab my chest make sure I was ok, once I realized I was cool I went looking for where the bullet went and it didnt take long, the stove was absolutely destroyed, and yes it was the loudest thing I had ever heard, lol, but I learned a very valuable lesson, always, ALWAYS check the chamber!!!!! every since then I been real anal about safety, real stickler for gun safety rules!!!! im prolly the most anal person ever....maybe not I dunno everyone, but im pretty FN anal about that shit nowadays lol
Probably the best thing you can teach anyone about firearms is how to clear it. Make it habit for when you pickup any firearm to clear it first before further handling. P.S. NDing an AR-15 with a muzzle brake inside your home will remind you of that mistake for at least 2 weeks no matter how dumb you are.
Absolutely. Even though I was raised in an anti gun state my parents still taught me to never point a gun at anyone. Luckily it was my tv but it was still 100% avoidable. Don’t point it at anything you’re not willing to destroy but to be honest I had a replica downstairs and never missed the tv.
That’s so lame 🙄 I’d like to hear your story cause we can all learn. TH-cam does weird things to my comments and some of my videos get way lower views than others. I think anything to do with this subject is working against the algorithm. The way I see it, the audience I build will be much stronger if it’s built in spite of the algorithm.
@@woll2633 I think it's because I used the term "shotgun" too many times. I'll try again when I get home from work using a bit of slang to throw off the algorithm
@@woll2633 Basically it comes down to improper reload of a shotgun by trying to be all "high speed" about it. Finger went into the trigger guard and hit the bang switch while I was filling the tube and plugged one into my friends van. It was a local spot, so it was only the two of us, but still.
@@woll2633 I agree, youtube sucks like that. But that's why I'm always in your comment section- I'm trying to boost your numbers to appease the algorithm

As the late, great Paul Harrell said, "Accidental discharge is when the gun went off when you didnt want it to, a negligent discharge is when the gun went off when you didnt want it to BECAUSE of something YOU did wrong". So I'll agree, it wasnt an ND, because he didnt do anything wrong.
Alcohol and guns can definitely be a scary mix. I have more than one friend make more than one ND, but luckily no injuries or charges.
Yea I definitely learned my lesson lol and my friend probably learned something too.

lol I know that was the loudest bang in the world lol. I could imagine you felt so sure it was unloaded making the pop much louder.
Thanks for sharing this though, it may help someone.

I've been trying to share my story, but my comment keeps vanishing. I guess youtube doesn't like one of the keywords.

first example wasn't negligent, as you did follow precautions
it might have been silly, or dumb, but not negligent
