- I enjoyed my first experience at Summer in the City. Here are some thoughts on the Small TH-cam panel and the organization of the convention. Also, watch for a cheeky vlog in the middle.

Totally agree with your comment about the organisers needing to figure out how to mix the community and corporate vibes, this was something I really struggled with on creator day. Was great to meet you over the weekend mate x
Glad to see some people agree! Twas wonderful meeting you as well
Good insight and recommendations. I hope to attend SitC at least once!
Hay Mary 'totally agree with everything you said in this video
I was at SITC again this year 'I can't believe I didn't see you as James was over from America also
The whole idea of SITC was good when it started out
But now it is far to corporate
The group of 25 of us that go each year spend less and less time in the convention centre and more time just hanging and chilling in the parks pubs and hotels around the area
You always know the right things to say and your message always comes across so strong and most People think feel the same
I do think community unite is an amazing idea and I'm so excited for Orlando in May next year
And if there are any more days coming up in London
Thanks for keeping it real player lol

You did really well with the panel and it was interesting seeing different perspectives from different people. Keep up the great work :)
I like the idea of having a smaller event under the umbrella of SitC! As you said that solves the problem of placating the community hounds and the fan-service side. I'm still annoyed that I didn't find out about Community Unite until literally the day it happened. I would have loved to have come!
I reaaaally appreciated the efforts to make the Smaller TH-cam pannel a bit more diverse than it was last year! I also appreciate how hard it must be to moderate a panel consisting of people who don't have a lot of experience talking in front of people, and having to touch upon a very broad spectrum of topics so yeah, there might have been some issues with the panel but overall I don't think it's fair to dismiss it entirely! Good job @ you yeyeye
Also, I don't remember who it was, but somebody suggested briefing the panelists on the topics that would be discussed beforehand so that everybody would have some time to think of what they wanted to say, in order to avoid long tangents and having some people answer every question & others shy away because they need a bit more time to gather their thoughts, and I think that'd get rid of most of the things people had issues with this year!
Ahh so wish I could have gone to sitc! I thought you did a great job moderating community untie at playlist in Florida!!! Good to hear what's going on behind the scenes as well. Liked it when you said they should work bottom down instead of bottom up. 👍🏻
Well said, MAREH. Oh I miss u now
Yaaaaas. Good vid, good vid.
You're so cute :) I loved how chill and laid back this video is. Also, that top brings out the color in your eyes girl!
It was my first sitc too, so I had nothing to compare it too, yet I felt like the smaller youtuber panel and the stuff on the floor in the main hall could have had more direction. You did a great job on the panel, trying to keep some direction in what we were talking about, but I still felt like something was missing. Does anyone have the links to the youtubers that were on the panel, cause I love to check some of them out.
This year was also my first SitC, I loved your point about incorporating the community aspect better into the current format because it does feel like that's something people miss about how SitC used to be. Will you be continuing community unite in the future? I wish I could've come this year! Awesome video Mary!
I've only just found you and your content so I'm wildly late on the commenting game on this video, but I went to the small youtubers panel and I thought you were great! I do however agree that there was so much disengagement at the convention this year. I'd been previous years and I felt like there was more of a community spirit going in (especially last year), but this year it just felt so weird. I don't know if it's because they've merged with MCM, which is brilliant, but they've lost the community and it's become more of a convention. I'd tagged my icky feelings of lack of engagement with my age rather than the convention as a whole and I couldn't agree more with this whole video!
Great video - personally I think the panelists were great...
also I agree with your points
+Will Carne I do too! I just meant that as a whole some topics were too advanced or required longer participation in the platforms for some on the panel to actively respond ;)
true!
There are so many issues with these huge events that are turning it into just another event that people go to which has youtubers and not a TH-cam event. It's lacking that main fundamental spirit of speaking to other people who also make videos because a lot of people don't go for that reason. People pay to see their subscription feed for less than a minute. I think the 'community unite' needs to be separate because it's too much of a big deal to sit along side people who go just to meet the popular peeps.
Great video, subbed
excellent excellent
I think that the small youtube panel was great and I think that you did such a good job! Of course there will be people who don't like the panel and will have their opinions on it, but also there will be people who will like the panel so we can't please everyone, but if you enjoyed yourself with it then that's all that matters right? ;-) and it was just the greatest experience! =D
I see me!
