    Beautiful specimen Doug!
    The guabiju, Natal plum and corg you sent down are now 150mm tall!
    Grown completely in shade all summer

      Cheers Paul, and Rachel made sure I knew you were talking about the tree an not me.😉
      Glad to hear those seedlings are still alive, the guabiju is tough as nails.
      The num num is actually Carissa bispinosa a bit nicer than the larger Natal plum. Think it's known as lesser num num, I should have put scientific name on the pot

    Pick when they start to look over-ripe. Delicious. Given the size of most of my subtropical fruit trees, I reckon I can expect to be pulling huge amounts of crop - when I am 92.

    Looking good. Any issues with fruit fly on these? Mine is still a small potted specimen. Probably go in the greenhouse this winter

    • @dougs_urbanfarm
      @dougs_urbanfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah Ben the fruit fly don't go for them, and I would recommend the greenhouse, they do not like the cold, probably similar to a panama Berry in cold tolerance

    I just posted a vid with a mention of this plant today, but had no idea they grow to this height. I have it in a tiny 2-3l ish pot, might need an upgrade!

    Looks awesome, am keen to have a crack at them. Are they easy to propagate?

    • @dougs_urbanfarm
      @dougs_urbanfarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah mate they grow pretty easy from seed, they sprout up under the trees. You are welcome to grab some fruit if you want.

    I got mine to fruit in Melbourne but didn't ripen enough - died the next year

    • @dougs_urbanfarm
      @dougs_urbanfarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are tropical, survive winter here but take some cold damage. They like more water in summer than they get, but they just have to make do.

      @@dougs_urbanfarm Yours look really good compared to the iffy plants i saw in Singapore Bot Gardens - fruit wasnt ripe enough so missed out again.

    I planted me 3 months ago, have a lot of new growth but some leaves are turning brown, do you know why?

    • @dougs_urbanfarm
      @dougs_urbanfarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      What climate are you in Nancy? These trees are very tropical and will suffer if cold. They also need a lot of water when they start to push new growth in Spring.
