    I am watching this video in a hotel room in da nang (January 27, 2023). Yesterday I visited the Citadel. As it is now Tet, the vietnamese new year, the entire area was jammed with local people and tourists. The big Vietnam flag is flying on the mast by the south gate, pleasure boats cruise the Perfume River. The Citadel has been rebuilt and you would not guess that a major battle had been fought here. It's my second visit to Vietnam and I find the people to be very friendly, full of questions about where you are from (Canada), and very proud of their history.

      This video sells it as a great victory. What a joke. I’m an ex-marine and if you read the book by Mark Bowden you see the cluster f@#k the battle actually was. This was a strategic victory for the Vietnamese People’s Army in almost every sense.

      @@genxman7211 it was a sneak attack and the first urban combat the US Marines experienced in decades, in the end they won the day without completely raping the cities infrastructure. Strategic victory for the PAVN? it resulted in the destruction and essential disbandment of the entire insurgency. you dont know what youre talking about, the Tet offensive was catastrophic in terms of material and lives lost for north vietnam

    • @vinhlong7347
      @vinhlong7347 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thebubbclubHow can it be a "disbandment" while the Southern guerrillas was still active in the following years? The NVA/VC took the Hue city in just 4 hours and the ARVN + US needed 26 days to take it back with about 4,400 casualties including 668 killed. 90% of Hue infrastructure, including the ancient citadel destroyed during the battle is not even a small part.
      Struggling with battles at Hue and Saigon allowed the NVA to enlist their time to siege Khe Sanh, then finally control the region in July 1968, which allowed the NVA to move their troops on a new Ho Chi Minh Trail, inside the Vietnam territory instead of turning around to Laos, Cambodia then back to South Vietnam.

      @@WhiteIkiryo-yt2itSo you use a French word that you don't want to pronounce in French? Why not just use an English word? Americans are just dropping the L in salmon. The British are actually adding letters into lieutenant that aren't even there. 😂 But then again, you drop Rs in words that have it and add Rs in words that don't. "Drawring a picture". Such logic.
