I realize Born In The USA is one of the highest selling records ever made, but it's not one of Bruce's favorites, and one of the reasons it because it was commercially compromised. This tune should've been on the album. It would've been a perfect song to follow Born In The USA (the song). Songs like This Hard Land, Richfield Whistle, Sugarland, Frankie, Murder Incorporated, A Good Man Is So Hard To Find, Wages Of Sin, and My Love Will Not Let You Down should have also been included. They are just better songs that "I'm Goin Down, Cover Me, I'm On Fire, etc.
I think two Vietnam songs would’ve given the album a nickname like “The Vietnam Album” which would not have been wanted... I’d have liked to seen Bobby Jean cut from and County Fair added to Born in the USA.
This is so obscure, yet I think it's one of his BEST songs! After I bought the single, I had to play it two or 3 times in a row whenever I put ut on the turntable. Thanks for the upload!
Own this on 45rpm....B side.....born in the u.s.a.....listened to this way more......love this song.....never got tiered of it.......got the shakes and I'm gonna be sick....remeber them days....Dew...
I have been looking for this song for a very long time! I kept half hearing it and hearing it in the background. All I knew was that it was a Bruce song, didn't really narrow it down! I am a relatively new Bruce Springsteen fan, 5 years, and I just think he is quite possibly the greatest human being to ever exist. (Sorry mam) His music is truly good for the soul. Thank you very much for uploading. Take care everyone.
this was a maxi single with this song iam on fire and i was so 18 or so but i love the boss since that day and his music help throught good and bad years .
Ya think? Sad, sad song from, "Tracks," (1998) a compilation of 66 songs that didn't fit, or weren't "good enough" for a "regular album." There's a good live version with professionally shot video from Paris, on the Born in the USA tour. Bruce provides some context for the song before singing it accoustically.
Recovering alcoholic with PTSD and a shit job using a sledge so hard at the plant my hands don't work at 4 a.m., would love a Ford with some chrome though.
So many great tunes were cut off Born in the USA. It should have been a double like The River. And they still haven't officially released a bunch of them as a box set or anniversary version. We did get a lot on Tracks but there is much more.

The other day I had a grain of flint stuck in my eye that I just couldn't get out. Then I listened to this song.

Good soul.....hard to not love Bruce....👌
The "Boss" was so emotional after he finished the book reading and he wrote this song... for RON KOVIC, the man "Born if the 4th of July"!
Magnificent-most underrated track of the Boss...
Michael Menke the outtakes alone would make a killer album
And it's almost impossible for me not to when I listen to this song. I turn to this whenever I feel like feeling sad...
...or need to rinse my eyes.
this man has crafted some very good songs
