And I began to wonder, why this people have similar culture with us? But with what I'm hearing from aare laji abass, I'm figuring out that ufe called ife has an extended empire beyond what we hear. Of course, i have heard it before. Even we have extended empire up to Egypt before The Greek and Roman came to destroy our heritage. Followed by Islamic and Arab conquest of 7th century. We have to emphasise on this issue of lagos being claimed by benin because that is how ibos start small small to the extent that evey benin now believes they own lagos and that we came out of them
Very very important, even we can publish the history to the all indigenous people of Lagos state and and should be in the museum ..also for all Yoruba born our children to understand that Lagos belongs to Yorubas .. if not !!
@lewisky2002 Chief Laji Opitan also needs to publish all the history in Yoruba and English language for every angle in Nigeria, including library's so everyone can read it.
All Yoruba king families causes all the problem by crown young person in their family to become king due to their selfish interests for their family to rule long instead of old person who actually knows the history. What do you expect from someone who lives in abroad for his entire life to say about his lineage and at first place why Sanwo Olu even invite Oba Benin at first place to Lagos, when Sijuade was alive I don't think none of this nonsense is happening and also Alaafin suppose to clear the air before he died but he died with the history. Aare opitan should do a finding about a tribe in delta state called Olukumi, a friend of mine was dating a girl from the tribe and when the lady’s grandma realized that my friend is from Owo, she said they can’t marry cause they might be cousins. But what surprises me most is that the girl doesn’t speak Yoruba, she speaks Igbo and later on my friend asked the lady’s family how can they be cousin when he’s Yoruba and the girl is Igbo and they explained to my friend that the tribe moved to the present city in delta state from Owo in Ondo state. This tribe speaks Igbo but some of their old grandma and grandpa still speaks adulterated Yoruba. Pls how true is this?
Most of them still speak Yoruba, they are found in Delta North near the Aniocha people. Actually they migrated from Ondo State then. They call them Olukumi.. you can watch a mini documentary on them on TH-cam
Someone has shared a link about them on this channel but I have not seen him talked about it I saw a documentary on them where most of them preferred to be addressed as Delta indegenes since Yoruba didn't see them as their own
Is there any trace of Edo ancestral language, culture, and traditions in Eko-Isale and around lagos today? Or do we have any? However, were the Binis people the first habitat in lagos? Although I might go to any new community to buy or own a land but that does not mean I founded the entire town if it became city tomorrow. There are other tribes living around the Isale-Eko before the Binis settled there, the Binis should stop all these claims of being the first to found a place or Royal seniority which they always claimed to be above Ilè-Ifẹ. My last question is: who were the tribes that surrounded Eko(Lagos) today? Then how could the binis came all the way from Ado(Edo) of miles to Eko? Before the Binis came to Eko, there're yoruba tribes living in Eko before the Binis later came and settled at Isale-Eko based on business trade and later went back to Edo.
Funny enough. There were no tribes and most of y’all Yoruba people add emotions when history is concerned. There were no aworis when Benin came because the benins came with a small army. How can a small army defeat a thriving population as the aworis if they were really the occupant. The aworis might have also been there in Lagos but not definitely where Benin found and camped called eko. Most of you think that because the benins are minority means there was no way Benin must have found that part of Lagos forgetting that the Benin history is dated as far back as more than 2 thousand years ago as at when it was dated. Is the Yoruba history that old?
