      It looks nice doesn’t it but when you exposure properly for the large, it’s so nice. I tried to keep the settings the same so it was a fair comparison. Thanks for watching 🤩🙏🏻🎥

    If you have white ceiling and walls, you can go with no soft box (or reflector) and turn the light around and just point it up at the corner of the walls and ceiling. How big it is would depend on how far away from the corner it is and would be up and approximately the 45 degrees over and up position with a really nice gradual fall off.

      not if you want dark background as bouncing it will light the entire room. also if you have carperts or floors of different colors it affects your image.

    Hey Sam. Thanks for the great video. You convinced me to get the larger soft box for my for 2 reasons: 1) I'm 62 years old and, frankly, I can use all the help I can get, and; 2) You mentioned something nobody else talks about-- shadows. I've been struggling with shadows cast by some figurines I have in front of what's serving as my backdrop. However I light, it always looks kind of like nighttime. By softening those shadows with the larger soft box, I'm hoping to soften, or even eradicate, the shadows.
    So, that's what I think. If you have a moment, I'd love to see your response to my rationale. And thank you again for your informative, well produced, and very charming video.

    I’m leaning towards the mini because of the den being narrow for my office, maybe having some sort of fill might work to make things more balanced. I’ve been looking for a video like this for the new studio thanks for all the gear help bro!! Great video 🤩

    Perfect video Sam!!!
    I was looking for a good second opinion on sizes of a softbox... I was a freelancer assistant for 10 years here in Brasil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), in that time I worked with some of the best photographers in the world, and I can totally say that with some experience.
    Perfect video man. About space, about considering the fill of the bounced light in the space on a small room... Advantages of a smaller softbox... Just perfect. Thank you! 🤘

    I like large. You can get large LED flat panels these days (for home/office lighting), I was wondering if any of them would work as a more built in lighting (maybe on an arm from a wall or celling?

    I understand you prefer the bigger lightbox (I think I do too). But your bigger lightbox is the dome ii. What do you think about the Aputure 150? It's way bigger than the dome ii. What do you think is better?

  • @MobiusOutcomeDelivery
    @MobiusOutcomeDelivery 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What would you recommend for travel? I'll be mainly making youtube videos, behind a desk. The led panels often give a harsh light, especially when glasses are on. Budget wise, I'd rather get something I can use for a while and that looks good without harsh lighting. So softboxes look the best, but are they portable enough? Thanks in advance.

    • @SamHolland
      @SamHolland  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi. Amaran do some small panels but come with softboxes. Give those a whirl. They still won’t be as soft as these but it’s a compromise

    Funny how you released this video today and I was just testing out my LAOFAS U120 47.2" Softbox. I'm amazed how HUGE that softbox is and how much it lights around the subject and background. It works well in my office, but a little tight in my Theater Studio. I was thinking of getting the 35.4 inch version as well. I'll probably use that in tighter spaces or as a hair light like you were. Thoughts or experiences with those? Keep up the good work on your channel.

    I would say go with the size that best fits the space you're working with. Many companies make various sizes of softboxes so a small might not be enough and the large could be too big so then you could opt for a medium.
    As always your comparison shots make me laugh as you look somewhere between irritated and angry haha.
