It was kinda a shock when I first moved to the US when I was 10, but I got used to it and I always shower in the morning now. Unless it's in the summer, then I would shower at night too because I sweat a lot. All my friends in Canada and Europe do the same. Edit: Oh and I look like sh*t when I wake up in the morning (half asleep and hair all over the place), so taking a nice shower really wakes me up and makes me look presentable.
when im in taiwan, i shower twice a day, when i uk, i can even shower once every 2-3 days, its all about how weather makes you feel, just the air quality and humidity in taiwan makes you wanna die for not showring 3 times a day, but UK is much more pleasant even in summer

Showering every day in cold weather (winter for example) will make our skin dry, especially hot baths which rip away the layer of sebum on our skin. I guess that's why they don't shower much. I used to shower every day when I was in Asia but since I came to Canada, once every 2-3 days. But I still wash some parts of my body every day, like my hair and private parts lol
I reckon people in the UK drink almost every night, so they either get drunk or feel extremely tired when they are home. So they might as well hit the sack right away.

I think you can't compare HK directly with UK. The weather is so hot and humid here in HK and you will really feel sticky after working for a whole day. I mean during cold weather like below 8, I guess some of the HKers won't take shower everyday.

To be honest, your interview was very judgmental and rude. It’s quite offensive to tell someone on the street that he or she is stinky and dirty. I think the interviewees were just being polite and nice to say they would reconsider it.
I totally agree I was actually kind of uncomfortable with the way he was speaking throughout the whole vid. But I mean the way Hong Konger's speak is very straightforward and I can see the influence of that on his English.

Actually I think part of this has to do with weather. I live in Hong Kong now, and you definitely get much sweatier/grosser than in other places. Maybe all humid/polluted places are like that? When I lived in the States in a very dry area, I really never sweated much or smelled much. The air is also much cleaner (not much pollution). So it's rare to "feel" very dirty (unless you've been working out or doing yard work or something). Now in HK, I feel like I have to shower every night because I feel gross if I don't. Not saying it's a bad idea to shower at night (you might be dirtier than you feel) but that at least might explain why it never became a habit.
hkfunla Exactly. When I lived in Bangkok I showered about 4 times a day but it is mostly cool or cold here so we don’t sweat much and it’s much less polluted here that Hong Kong.
Please get yourself together and grow up. I never say that Torres's accent is inferior. I am just simply amazed by the fact that someone is praising his very very ordinary local accent. English with Cantonese accent is definitely not a shame, but no one would found it aesthetic. I do think Torres is great in fluency in terms of English speaking when compared to the majority in Hong Kong and I appreciate that, but to be frank, there is nothing to praise about when it comes to pronunciation.
I agree his English 有feel. ie He manages to express strong passion in his English which I think is more lively than some native English speakers'. His English isn't so local HK Chinese anyway.
I think the Cantonese accent in his English is relatively insignificant. What i hear most of the time is a hybrid of Australian (i reckon?) English and a touch of Canto.
I think most of the European don't take shower or bath at night (Maybe even in the morning). First, this may because they have a cold weather which they don't sweat much. Compare to Asia, where most of the places are hot all the time, Beijing is hot as well when it comes to summer (so it is so easy for us to sweat which we need take shower at least once per day.) Second, I remember that only the royal have the rights to take bath once per a few months (It seems like it is an expensive event for them). So the history or culture of taking shower began in a quite a recent. While it is funny that it is not that expensive or more common in Asian society. Not sure how it works.
I guess this is not just a British thing because my german fiancee also do the same when she's in Europe. In HK, she takes shower every night before go to bed👏
I can’t sleep if I’ve been out all day, all sweaty and then go lay on my bed. 😅 For me, London (never been to other parts of the UK) is just as humid as HK but the air is usually less stuffy. Once the temp hits 30c, I can’t but take shower before going to bed. It just helps me sleep better.

我記得之前細個係加拿大讀書，佢地將一日嘅行為寫上卡度要我地排返順序，D加拿大人永遠係將沖涼排係頭位，一直話我係錯嘅。 我習慣左之後而家都係朝早沖涼，如果果日我比較大汗或者gel頭我就夜晚都沖多次。

I think most of the European don't take shower or bath at night (Maybe even in the morning).
First, this may because they have a cold weather which they don't sweat much. Compare to Asia, where most of the places are hot all the time, Beijing is hot as well when it comes to summer (so it is so easy for us to sweat which we need take shower at least once per day.)
Second, I remember that only the royal have the rights to take bath once per a few months (It seems like it is an expensive event for them). So the history or culture of taking shower began in a quite a recent. While it is funny that it is not that expensive or more common in Asian society. Not sure how it works.

I guess this is not just a British thing because my german fiancee also do the same when she's in Europe. In HK, she takes shower every night before go to bed👏
I can’t sleep if I’ve been out all day, all sweaty and then go lay on my bed. 😅 For me, London (never been to other parts of the UK) is just as humid as HK but the air is usually less stuffy. Once the temp hits 30c, I can’t but take shower before going to bed. It just helps me sleep better.
