Thank you for these helpful tips suggesting ways to aid those people affected by RA. I try not to talk about my RA as I find that most people think it's more of a minor inconvenience rather than a progressive disease. Luckily I'm not greatly affected by having RA at the moment, but I can't help but worry about the future! A little bit of help goes a long way in our times of need.

Hello Carolyn.. it's just that you need to be more selective when you choose who to talk to.. a friend or close relative who will understand what is going on is the ideal person to talk to of course.. Group therapy sessions are also such a wonderful help. And of course, there is always a psychologist who is willing to listen to you...
      Have a great day..

@@onlinemedicalconsultations9695 thanks for your advice. I'll be sure to open up to more people in the future if I feel I need extra help. I'm seeing my rheumatologist next month so will ask her about any support groups that are available.
Thank you so much for your reply!

Hello.. do you mean if there could be an end to the disease? The answer is yes: it all depends on a good assessment of your arthritis and on the prescription of optimal treatment for the level of activity of your disease

Thank you for this empathetic video! This is a subject that specialists don't tend to mention, but support from family and friends is really important for the physical and mental health of the arthritis patient.
We can't rely on medical treatment alone to control our pain. A very simple way to help improve outcomes is just to do certain things for us, so that we don't have to trigger pain in our joints with everyday tasks.
Since you invited comment on strategies, I want to add one important point.
Please, helpers, ASK the patient what is needed. Don't make assumptions, don't take over without permission. You will only make the patient feel worse.
When a person is restricted and has less agency over their life, it's important not to further disempower them. Make sure they are in charge of the help they receive.
Thank you doctor, for all your videos, which are very helpful.

Thank you Jane for your feedback.. Very true.. Helpers, out of sincere care, sometimes still press the wrong buttons by assuming that patients have complete loss of control and by volunteering to take over and offer help even with the littlest tasks which makes patients feel even worse..
I believe more communication and more expressing on both sides, patients and helpers. would make a tremendous difference here..

This is a beautiful statement that applies to those with debilitating AS as well. I have only been in treatment for a year but suffered for 30 prior to my cell phone telling me it was AS and see a rheumatologist. Now I need my family to step up and do their part. I pushed through for too many years now I need my health to be my focus.
