Fasted cardio makes a huge difference if you’ve fasted enough hours and are in ketosis. Also all the hormonal benefits of your human growth hormone being up to 1000% higher while fasted.
These guys are missing something important. If you work out fasted and drain your glucose, the carbs you eat on a refeed are more unlikely to be stored as fat.
Technically speaking low intensity cardio should be the way to go while fasted in the mornings. Utilizes your stored fat instead of glucose. I’ve found my cravings way more when I eat before I workout after because my body wants to refeed once my glucose levels are low from the exercise. But when I do it while fasted. BOOM I go on with my day as if I didn’t walk for 3 miles. For 3 years I would do cardio while fasted in the mornings on a treadmill at my house before going to work and would lift after work obviously after I’ve had lunch. And I felt great and my cravings were near zero.
Exactly! I did a prep years ago where I had to do fasted cardio 7 days a week and PM weight training 5 days/week and I got the best results EVER! I’m restarting this routine tmo! Hail to fasted cardio 🎉
I prefer to exercise and work out first thing in the morning, fasted cardio by default. That said, I am so accustomed to working out on an empty stomach, anything else is yuck to me.
I only do fasted cardio in the early morning because it’s the only time it fits in my day (I lift mid afternoon or evening). Otherwise, when I do cardio in the afternoon, I have much more energy.
@@prinniesforeveryone321agreed but again purpose of fasting in general is to burn/lose fat and not really worry about any gains. I digress nothing beats a fasted cardio sesh in the morning
I only do cardio fasted because I generally feel sick when I do any faster movement or activity with anything in my stomach beyond like a few sips of protein or like half a banana. There wasn't any difference in rate of weight or fat loss for me between if I had eaten or not prior to working out.
I love fasted cardio because 2 reasons. 1. It's super efficient to do in the morning. From a routine standpoint, I can do it consistently and I don't feel nauseous like I do when I do it fed. 2. If you take Yohimbine, it needs to be in a fasted state and it makes quite a difference in fatloss.
@@unknownsource4359 that is interesting. I've never heard of black maca root. I tried researching it, but could not find much reliable source of explanation of it. What are it's benefits?
Thr benefit of fasted sports in the morning is it optimizes your sleep cycle. It doesnt even matter if its cardio or weight training. Your body will be more energetic in the morning and this makes waking up way easier. Waking up early gets you sunlight exposure earlier. Earlier sunlight = earlier sleepiness in the evening.
As someone who use to do fasted cardio a lot, I usually was able to run 2 - 3 miles fasted, maybe 4 if I really pushed myself, but if I had eaten and saved it for the end of the day, 3 miles was a breeze and I'd be able to run 6 - 10 miles. Obviously it's cause I had calories fueling me, but yes, if you eat and then do cardio, you can usually go on longer than when fasted, but everyone's different.
I do calisthenics at the park. So, sometimes when I train linear instead of circuit, I bring a pint of Halo Top and eat it between sets. Another thing I like to do is get sushi when I leave and that has pretty good protein from the salmon. I can see people doing fasted cardio if they think they'll throw up. I can't do it. I need to eat. Most of my cardio is riding my bike everywhere so I don't have to spend money on the bus. I live in NYC, btw.
But if I don't eat today that's like an 1800 calorie deficit and if I go for a run that ends up being like a 2100 calorie deficit. Sure, it's the same 300 calories lost if I was fed, but if I'm just cutting, it works wonders. Plus, autophagy!

If you are truly fasting not just waking up and doing cardio on an empty stomach than you will burn more fat since you are fat adapted. I do rolling 48 hour dry fast and when I do cardio and sweat it’s forcing the body to open fat cells for fuel. Also the fat cell is 2/3 water so you are getting rid of trapped water also.
What if you do intermittent fasting everyday (with a 2-3 hour eating window) and want to do steady state cardio on hour 18 of the fast? If you've burned through your glycogen, wouldn't you tap into your fat stores if you're doing steady state cardio?
