I loved this woman as a child and did not truly understand her individuality, uniqueness, elegance, solid stance of person. As an adult and looking at these kind of interviews I love her even more. Like so many of the black stars of that era, she handled herself, and he business like the absolute star, and pro that she was. “Never let them see you sweat” had to come from this grand dame! Fly high sweet bird!
We are from Britain , we used to see her on Television over here . We never know anything about her passed life . I always thought she was British . It is very moving to hear that she says. " I'm an American, I was born here, I have no race, no creed, no colour", is some thing I will always remember !
welshpete12: It's a phrase from a colored american that had the opportunity to travel and live abroad and see the world as it is. Those americans, black or white, who see themselves as pertaining to boxes/categories/races are the ones who never truly knew anything outside their comfort zone/bias/institutionalized racism framework that rules the US.
I think this has a lot to do with her horrible childhood. "Earning her keep" must have been instilled in her emotional makeup. It's a little sad, but she showed us in the end.
Rita Marie: Above all she's a beautiful AMERICAN! Period! We fans of Eartha outside the US don't see her as "black" or "white" or any other box/category bullshit! If America is a 'melting pot', isn't "american" enough? That's what she is trying to say here!

She wouldn't love you.
"If they appreciate you as a person, you have no color, because they can feel your value."
After this interview, I have a lot more respect for Eartha Kit.
#I've always had respect for her for her honesty ❤️🖤💚
This woman was so amazing! So many never knew.
People who are valuable will understand value in others

I love this interview of Ms. Kitt!
BEAUTIFUL ENDING STATEMENT
I never knew her when she passed away, but I knew about her around Christmas 2012, I wish I could've seen her before she passed away like you did.
true and inspiring words
Bless you!!!
