This was a wonderful video and I agree with those who said that it was far better than the factory information. What I need now is information on how to program the remote control so it recognizes the reprogrammed keypad. There are so many remotes that it is difficult to figure to sort it all out.
Thank you for the kind words. I’m not an expert but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t believe you can program a remote using the keypad. Programming a remote normally just involves setting the DIP switches in the remote and using the learn button inside the opener control board. Any additional remotes should be able to be programmed using the existing remote’s DIP switch settings. Hope this helps! Thanks again for the comment and thanks for watching!

Well Done! Best I've seen! If you want to expand on this you might consider this for the next video. I replaced my a shot unit with a new one but retained to key pads and portable remotes. The new portable remote works with the new unit but the older (6 months) don't work even the the dip switches have been all been reset the same. If I program one remote at a time, any will work. Its like the control board can only see one individual pad or remote. But thanks for the detailed video. I was looking for some way to solve my issue and while it didn't I really liked it. Keep up the good work!
Ken Weldon thank you so much for the kind words! I’m not sure if it is a limitation of the equipment, or something they have intentionally programmed to keep people from being able to use old equipment; probably the latter. Thank you again for the comment and thanks for watching!

We never get that kind of winter here but it would be okay once in a while! We have had some pretty gnarly ice storms over the years and some decent snow but it doesn’t happen every year. I’m glad it helped - thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
I did a factory reset, still not working. I found directions on the keypad for the mm371w, it's different than the older style of gate opener. Will try again.
Awesome. Now I know how to program someone else's gate opener. I'm assuming you have to set matching codes on both keypads? Surely they don't communicate with each other.
Yeah, each keypad has to be programmed separately; they don’t communicate with one another. I guess you could do different codes for different keypads but I have a hard enough time remembering one code. You can put a sensor on the inside so the gate automatically opens when you’re driving out but it’s more expensive than the keypad kit and i figured my tractor and lawnmower would open it every time I drove by.
A Mighty Mule keypad should work with any Mighty Mule opener. If the old keypad has been paired with another opener, you will first need to completely reset the keypad. There should be a reset button in the back of the keypad where the batteries go. Then follow the instructions on my video for setting the new master code and learning the transmit code. You will need the remote from the new opener to do this. Good luck!
Jeremy, I have purchased a new F310 keypad because the battery connections on the old one were bad. I programmed the key pad per your video and the gate opens fine with the keypad but doesn't want to close when I put in the code. It will close with the remotes fine. Any idea's on this issue would greatly be appreciated.
I would make sure your opener is set up to close via the remote/keypad. I think the default setting is for the opener to close automatically after a delay. Even if the opener is set up this way, the remote will probably still close the gate when you push the button but the keypad might not. My gate is set to close itself after a 45-second delay so I’m not as experienced operating it the other way. This is just a guess but I hope it helps!
Thanks for the info. I have this keypad and I purchased a new opener. I programmed my remotes to open and close my gate. I programmed my keypad and my remotes would no longer work. Any help?
I have no idea. The only thing I can think is to make sure the code pins inside the remote didn’t move and still match the codes inside the opener module. I wouldn’t think the keypad would affect the remotes at all. I will say, I had problems with 2 different remotes and had to take them back to the store and swap out for new ones.
Thank you so much. My fuse blew in an ice storm had to reset everything and couldn't find the book. Now only thing I need to do is get my gate to shut all the way. It's stopping a foot short:)
You're very welcome. I'm glad the video was helpful. I think there is a switch or button on the controller board inside the opener arm that manages the amount of travel the gate makes when it opens. I've had to tweak the adjustment on mine a couple of times to get it right.
Great to hear! I’ve even used it for my own reference when I changed some codes on my keypads a few weeks ago. It was kind of weird watching my own video but it was very helpful! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
@@lucsajsr If the batteries are not the problem, I would guess you have a faulty keypad. Low batteries may cause the memory to "forget" its settings. Otherwise, something must be wrong with it.
Not a code that I’m aware of but on this model, you can set the controller to stay open until you close it, rather than closing automatically so many seconds after opening. I prefer to have mine close automatically but when I do need it to stay open, I let it open completely, then turn the opener off at the unit so that the gate stays open. When I’m ready for it to close, I simply switch the opener back on at the unit and it closes on its own. Hope this helps - thanks for watching!
If you know the current master code, you would go through the steps in the video that start at 4:20. If you don't know or remember the master code, you can reset the keypad back to factory settings by taking the keypad out of the housing and pressing the reset switch on the back of the unit. This will require the keypad to have to "learn" the transmit code given by the remote control button. This process can be found at 7:02 in this video. Once that is done, you will go to 4:20 in the video to set a new master code from the factory default, which I believe is 1234. Hope that helps - thanks for watching!
ken romine thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching! I had the same problem when I was looking to buy a gate opener - there just wasn’t much info out there about Mighty Mule. My thought in doing the review video and the video on programming the keypad was that maybe I could help someone. I hope it helped you!
In doing a quick search online, it looks like cars with the HomeLink openers should operate Mighty Mule openers but I did not see a step by step instruction for it. My guess is that most of the openers in cars can be programmed to open the MM. I know for sure, however, that a MM remote will not work with my newer garage door opener. I bought a 3 button MM remote for my daughter’s car thinking she could use it for the garage door as well but it would not work.
There’s 2 ways you can do it: open the gate with the remote or the keypad, then turn the unit off with the switch when it’s in the open position. Then when you’re ready to close it, turn the unit back on and it will close automatically. I do this frequently. The other way is to use the dial on the control board inside the unit. You turn the “delay” dial all the way to “off” which means you’ll have to use the remote or keypad to open AND close the gate. I think the first method is easier, especially if you are just doing it temporarily on an occasional basis. I hope this helps. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching! (And please consider subscribing to the channel!)
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, I actually have done some teaching over the years but it has never been my primary job. Thanks for watching - I hope you’ll consider subscribing to the channel.
I just bought a house with a keypad but I don't know the gate code. the previous owners passed away so I don't know how to get the master code. the mighty mule instructions say I can reset all the codes by pressing the reset button but I don't see a reset button on the keypad. is it somewhere else? under the cover or something? thanks!
You bet - thanks for watching! There is a dial inside the opener unit that you set for the amount of delay for holding the gate open. You can set that dial to 0 and it turns off the auto-close feature, requiring you to close the gate by clicking the remote. Hope that helps!
You might do a factory reset by taking the back cover off the keypad. You can take the cover off by removing 2 screws in the bottom of the keypad. Then find the reset button above the batteries, then press and hold the reset button for 2 to 3 seconds. Then you can enter a new master code and re-program the keypad to the opener using the remote.
That was an excellent video. I purchased this property this past September so I am looking for how to reset the keypad back at the original 1234 master code so then I can start with all my own. I do not think they left me the remote so hopefully I do not need it. Can you tell me how to reset the master code back to factory master code?
Karen Hansen you can reset the keypad back to factory by accessing the back of the keypad, then pressing and holding the reset button for 2 to 3 seconds. This resets it back to factory default. I believe you can only program the keypad by using a working remote control. These can be purchased at Tractor Supply for around $20 and can be set for any code to match the code on the opener. I hope that information helps! Thank you for the compliment and thank you for watching! Be sure to subscribe!
Our keypad works 80% of the time. Batteries are fresh, programming complete, sensor moved to various points. Occasionally the keypad will not open the gate. Any idea?
The only thing I can think is that sometimes mine doesn’t seem to recognize the first keystroke so when you’ve entered the code, the keypad doesn’t think it’s correct. So most of the time, I’ll hit a button (any button) just to make sure the keypad is “awake” then I’ll enter the code. I’m not sure if that will help your situation but you might give it a try. Good luck and thanks for watching!
You bet. That’s the way I have mine set up for guests. You just have to program them individually. They can have the same codes but they don’t sync up automatically.
When I try to learn the transmitter code I get a long beep after I enter the master code and then 05. Any help? I believe my batteries ran dead in my gate keypad, and now the keypad and the remotes will not work
As long as your remote has good batteries, it should still work to open the gate. You might check the DIP switches in the remote to make sure they still match the ones in your opener’s control module. There is also a master reset in the back of the keypad so that you can start over with the programming. Hope that helps!
I just want to thank you. We bought a house a few days ago with one of these gates and we weren't given any instructions and I can't find anything online to help. A list of programming functions from mighty mule would have been great but I'm not able to find it, so thank you again :) Ohhh one question, do you know the prompts to leave the gate open?
You’re very welcome! I’m glad it helped you. Leaving the gate open is an option inside the control box of the opener. On mine, I believe it is a dial for the auto-close time. You would turn that dial to “off” so that the gate doesn’t auto-close. Then you would have to close by remote or keypad. Hope that helps - thanks for watching!
The book just says to turn off the gate opener during the learn process with the remote “so there is no unintended operation of the gate.” I’m not sure that means you HAVE to turn it off, probably that they just recommend it. I’m not 100% sure but I think I left the opener on for the remainder of the programming steps.
I'm not sure I can show you a picture of one through TH-cam comments but if you Google "Mighty Mule gate opener single button remote" one of the first images that comes up with be what you're looking for. Hope that helps!
The keypad doesn’t have a learn button but it does have a program button. The learning process involves the program button with a certain code and a working remote. I believe this process is explained starting at 7:02 in the video. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Our keypad which is the mmk200 does not have a program button it has the keypad numbers a button to light up the keypad and a directional button... no button that is sunk in.... I wish I could post a picture of the keypad and the control panel
Jesica Caldwell it looks like programming that keypad is a little different than mine. There is a learn button found on the circuit board, which may be in the back of the unit. I found an online guide that walks you through the process. On Mighty Mule’s website.
If you’re using the keypad wirelessly, I believe you’ll have to have a remote; however, if you plan to hard-wire the keypad to the opener, I think you can use the factory reset button on the back of the keypad and program without a remote. You can purchase a remote for around $20 from Tractor Supply.
I would just recommend trying again. Sometimes mine doesn’t accept the instructions the first time I try. If that doesn’t work, you can reset the keypad to factory settings by using the reset button on the back of the keypad. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
It should be just as simple as changing the pins inside the remote so that they no longer match the pins inside your gate opener control panel. That way it will no longer activate your gate opener. Or, you can change the code in your control panel and any remotes still in your possession, so that that code no longer matches the remote you’re trying to remove. I hope that helps! Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
There is a reset button on the back of the keypad near the battery compartment. Pressing and holding the reset button for 2 seconds will reset the keypad to factory default. The default master code is 1234, which I recommend you reset pretty quickly.
On the MM360, there is a delay dial on the control board inside the opener unit. That dial can be set from zero (requires you to push the button to close the gate) up to about 90 seconds delay. Hope that info helps. Thanks for watching!
SPRay I guess it makes sense that there are diagnostic codes that they would use to figure out what might be wrong with a unit but surely someone has published them somewhere online. I’ve just never looked for them.
In the back of the keypad with the batteries, there should be a reset button. The instruction manual says to press and hold this button for 2 seconds, which will reset the keypad to factor settings (with 1234 as the master code, which will then allow you to program it using the instructions in my video). I'm assuming you'll have to do the reset with the batteries in but I can't say for sure, as I've never had to do a factory reset. Good luck!
@@JeremyTVOK That's true. I have to do that. Just moved into a new house, and the prior owner didn't give me a code. I see one screw to remove it, but I was told there are two. Any idea where they both are? I'm stuck.

You bet - thanks for watching! There is a dial inside the opener unit that you set for the amount of delay for holding the gate open. You can set that dial to 0 and it turns off the auto-close feature, requiring you to close the gate by clicking the remote. Hope that helps!
i tried programming my remote to the keypad to open the gate, but it didn't work. I know it's a old post, but can you help me.
Excellent!
Thank you for the compliment and thanks for watching!
So can you put a key pad on the inside and outside of property to enter and exit?
You bet. That’s the way I have mine set up for guests. You just have to program them individually. They can have the same codes but they don’t sync up automatically.
Jeremy TV awesome thank you very mucho
You’re very welcome. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
Would it be possible to program without turning the gate off?
The book just says to turn off the gate opener during the learn process with the remote “so there is no unintended operation of the gate.” I’m not sure that means you HAVE to turn it off, probably that they just recommend it. I’m not 100% sure but I think I left the opener on for the remainder of the programming steps.
Muy bueno Oklahoman!
Muchas gracias, Don!
Thanks
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Can you show me what the remote looks like. I don’t think mine came with one
I'm not sure I can show you a picture of one through TH-cam comments but if you Google "Mighty Mule gate opener single button remote" one of the first images that comes up with be what you're looking for. Hope that helps!
Neither of Our keypad and control box has a learn button but they say they are compatible
The keypad doesn’t have a learn button but it does have a program button. The learning process involves the program button with a certain code and a working remote. I believe this process is explained starting at 7:02 in the video. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Our keypad which is the mmk200
does not have a program button it has the keypad numbers a button to light up the keypad and a directional button... no button that is sunk in.... I wish I could post a picture of the keypad and the control panel
Jesica Caldwell it looks like programming that keypad is a little different than mine. There is a learn button found on the circuit board, which may be in the back of the unit. I found an online guide that walks you through the process. On Mighty Mule’s website.
I’ll check the back there’s definitely not a learn button on the front of the control panel thank you
Nope no learn button at all
Can you program the keypad without a remote?I bought it from an individual and it didnt have a remote
If you’re using the keypad wirelessly, I believe you’ll have to have a remote; however, if you plan to hard-wire the keypad to the opener, I think you can use the factory reset button on the back of the keypad and program without a remote. You can purchase a remote for around $20 from Tractor Supply.
what transmitter are you talking about/
The single-button transmitter that comes with the opener.
I done the last set but it doesn't beeps, what can I do
I would just recommend trying again. Sometimes mine doesn’t accept the instructions the first time I try. If that doesn’t work, you can reset the keypad to factory settings by using the reset button on the back of the keypad. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
My key pad dose not beep. I put new battires in it.
Does it seem to work otherwise? The newer models may not beep but that’s completely speculation on my part.
Thank you!!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Hi Jeremy! Do you know how to remove a remote from the gate opener?
It should be just as simple as changing the pins inside the remote so that they no longer match the pins inside your gate opener control panel. That way it will no longer activate your gate opener. Or, you can change the code in your control panel and any remotes still in your possession, so that that code no longer matches the remote you’re trying to remove. I hope that helps! Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
How do you delete master code if you have forgotten what it was?
There is a reset button on the back of the keypad near the battery compartment. Pressing and holding the reset button for 2 seconds will reset the keypad to factory default. The default master code is 1234, which I recommend you reset pretty quickly.
@@JeremyTVOK YAHTZEEEEEE!!! THX
Do Work you bet! Glad I could help!
Im using this video again lol
I used it a few times myself, including about 2 weeks ago! Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching!
Thanks so much posting this video really works well@@JeremyTVOK
NICE!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
How do you get the gate to close automatically after you enter the driveway?
On the MM360, there is a delay dial on the control board inside the opener unit. That dial can be set from zero (requires you to push the button to close the gate) up to about 90 seconds delay. Hope that info helps. Thanks for watching!
What if the keypad just doesn’t want to learn?
You can reset the keypad to factory defaults via the button on the back of the unit. If that doesn’t work, you may have a faulty unit.
WHERE IS ALL OF THESE FUNCTION CODES?
I got them from the instruction book that came with the keypad. I’m sure you can find them online as well.
@@JeremyTVOK Thanks, no there are lots of codes that they dont publish unless you are on the phone with a rep and you are troubleshooting.
SPRay I guess it makes sense that there are diagnostic codes that they would use to figure out what might be wrong with a unit but surely someone has published them somewhere online. I’ve just never looked for them.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IT WORKED!!! THANKFUL 69 YR OD WIDOW
You are so very welcome! I’m glad it helped. Thank you for watching and for the kind words!
Bought a property and don't know master code.
Good luck!
My key pad don't beep
You can reprogram the key pad not knowing the code.
Only by taking the keypad off the post and hitting the reset button in the back.
@@JeremyTVOK That's true. I have to do that. Just moved into a new house, and the prior owner didn't give me a code.
I see one screw to remove it, but I was told there are two.
Any idea where they both are? I'm stuck.
@@JeremyTVOK It was easy, but finding the screws was difficult. And now I need a new battery.
Only watch if you want the entire manual and his life explained to you throughout the process. Buried somewhere in pieces is setting up the keypad.
You could read the description where there is a bookmark for every single process so that you can skip the commentary. Or you could read the manual yourself since it's online. Or you could leave a snarky comment on someone else's video. So many choices.
@@JeremyTVOK in truth I am simply leaving the comment I wish I would have seen. With my hands full the other choices to approaching your video were limited. I based the decision to click and play in background based on thumbnail and title, which ended up being a mistake. In my judgment perhaps, and also because of what I already observed about your video. Best wishes to you Jeremy TV and thanks for contributing content to the world.
Thanks, the paper documentation from MM is kinda garbage.
You’re very welcome! Thank you for the feedback and thanks for watching!
How do we skip ahead to where he is giving directions. This intro is too long
The video description has links to every process explained in the video. Clicking on that would have been quicker than leaving a snarky comment.
Way to much talking. Get to the point.
Aside from a couple of minutes of introduction, the video was explaining how to program the keypad. Only other way would have been to draw a picture and I’m not that good an artist. Plus, the video details gave links to each how-to section of the video. How’s that for the point?
Get over it, this is good information!
@@ChristineHansonhair thank you! :)
2 min intro. geez. just get to it
There are links to skip over all parts to go directly to the info you need. Try reading once in a while.
Fantastic video! Thanks so much.
You’re very welcome! Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!
So I'm SOL if i think i screwed up the master code??
No, there is a reset button on the back of the keypad which will return it to the factory default master code of 1234.
