Attend Brixton school of building we learnt to cut gauge brickwork on paper then mix lime mortar 3 mm joints on centres goggle joints out fill with cement grout.
This person is doing a fine job bringing our noble trade to light. I was made redundant 7 year's ago after 10 years of teaching because I believe it's dirty, needs space, heavy, all weather, no promotional and call in substandard labour from else where. I am a 4 year apprenticeship bricklayer taught by tradesmen long ago never to be seen or heard of again
This government and others has thrown away centuries of experience of all trades in the expectations of commerce and finance is the way forward.
      Least the country will regret.

Rob, until I started watching your channel I wasn't even aware this kind of artistry was still alive . I'm not a mason or bricklayer by any means . The most I have done is a brick pizza oven, but I truly look forward to your videos. Cheers from the U.S.

Very Impressed. Class work. Did you set the voussoirs in lime putty or was it the same mortar throughout? I've only done gauged brickwork once 35 year ago and bought the 'rubbers'- bricks that are not fired to full hardness and can be cut with a wire saw and 'rubbed' to final accuracy on a York stone, second hand. Years ago it broke my heart to see a Gang of plasterers in Covent Garden scutch hammer beautiful gauged arches to give a key before they rendered them in sand and cement. It was like watching vandalism.
