What ties me to Marty? I live in Honolulu, and met Marty in the 70s. He invited me to drink coffee with him back stage. He was humble, humorous and natural. He asked me what life was like in Hawaii, and told me he raced cars to relax! Thanks for sharing this video!
Marty Robbins was my first and always will be my favorite singer. I bawled like a baby when he died. Like someone else said, he never had a bad song. RIP
Very nice video. I met Marty in 1977 and he was a really down to earth and friendly. If the story was not so long I would put it in here. But, I think it would take a page or two. But, I will let you know I met him along with Merle Haggard as they were touring together and I was welcomed up in each of their Buses in Kansas City, and had a great time that could not be repeated. From that meeting he invited me to come see him in Nashville if I ever got to town. I did, and this was a year later and he was kind enough to have me come to his office and chat. I don't think he remembered me from the first meeting but he said he did and he was very gracious. It's a memory I will cherish forever......
Marty Robbins had one of the most beautiful singing voices in country music. I can listen to "Don't Worry" every day. The personality that he had, his charisma on stage, how nice he dressed, and he loved to perform. My father and stepmother are buried not far from Marty Robbins, his wife, and Webb Pierce's graves. My husband, I, and my mother will be too. He left way too soon, but not forgotten. ❤From A Nashville Girl❤
King of Country ballads . As a kid I watched Marty race at Charlotte. Purple Dodge charger. A classy gentleman. Marty lived life to the fullest! My hero. 8:55
I met Marty at Owensboro Speed Way when he was into racing. I was young but I still remember him in that jumpsuit. My uncle raced with him in midget racing. He had always been my favorite.
