And in the very first episode of Dragonball Goku had no clue what a gun even was - and as such was not prepared for it - and the pistol that Bulma shot at him still didn't leave a mark. Plus they still have Dragon Balls, so they really don't care about consecuences.
Can you blame Krillin? He has almost no one to have these talks with: Goku and Tien are so fighting-obsessed it's out of the question, Chichi is the same about her family, Piccolo would be very difficult, Gohan is too little, Roshi is too old, Vegeta categorically denies to participate and now he knows Trunks is out too, the last ones are Yamcha, Oolong and Turtle, who kinda go along with him, and Bulma, who at least tolerates him
Apparently the whole fountain of youth thing changes a LOT between translations from what I can find. The translation I initially watched of DB (not Z) had him getting some water from his sister every hundred years or so to keep him from croaking due to age. In some translations it is later said to be a lie, or it was some grass that extends lifespan by 1000 years per dose, or a couple other things. Not sure I have ever seen reference to it being under Kame house before.
"My God I'm delicious!" I love how the intro checks out in this episode tho. I never put it together until team4star pointed it out on their commentary. Genius!
Time travel is actually banned in the DBZ universe because it keeps creating parallel time lines. When Trunks created a new time line he created an item that would prove someone had gone back in time, if anyone had bothered to check the box to see if there was a new one. It is possible to travel between the time lines. The Abridged series never explains this.
In fairness, all of that doesn't become a thing until well into Dragon Ball Super, after both "pre-Super" movies, both of the anime arcs retelling the movies, and a decent way into the Goku Black arc. This episode of Abridged I believe was made before the Future Trunks timeline was revisited in Super.
The use of the word android confused me when I was a teen, given what Android 18 does off screen later. Someone later gave me the wrong definition of android at school. The story seems to be a translation error. In the original they used a word that was more ambiguous, which can be translated to android or cyborg. Although what she is is a bit more complex than that. She and her brother are far different internally than the cyborg Android 20/Dr. Gero, who was a human brain in a robot body. My guess is that my classmate was going off the handwaved expiation the dub gave during the Buu arc, which TFS never got to.
Cyborg = Cybernetically enhanced human. Android = Artificial Construct/Robot. The main difference between Cyborgs and Androids doesn't come from the their body, but from their personality. 16 and 19 both have artificial personalities created by computer code, while 17, 18, and 20/Gero have real ones. Even if Gero's body is entirely mechanical, the fact that he has a human brain is what makes him a cyborg instead of an android.
Hey, @theduckgoesmoo, I am really enjoying seeing Kirby's reactions to all of this! My one and only (complaint?) is that I wish you both had watched it for the first time at the same time. Here's why: If you had both not known what was going to happen, you wouldn't be..........doing the equivalent of having the "English (Canadian)" subtitles on, for DBZA. Yes, that is a real thing. Each and every episode of DBZA has two sets of English subtitles. The "English" ones are your regular captions, but the "English (Canadian)" ones are for funny commentary, explaining inside jokes, and funny commentary on the jokes. While they are indeed funny, they're also distracting, as you can miss things in the show, because you're reading the funny commentary. The "English (Canadian)" subtitles are best used after at least 2 complete watches of the series. They're not really good for a first watch. My point to all this is that I see you keep dropping little hints to Kirby, and making little commentaries on the jokes, which (at least to me) would be really annoying, and taking away from the enjoyment of a completely blind watching. I haven't seen your first time watching this, yet, but I'm wondering if you had someone sitting there, pointing stuff out to you. Just my 2 Zeni. I'm big on no spoilers/hints, to the point where I have to ask my dad if the news story he wants to tell me about is regarding a show we both watch, even just a little bit, before I decide whether or not to let him tell me 😄. Sadly those kind of service do sometime face problems like that, weither it's lack of funds or other red tapes from the government that slow them down. I'm not sure how much help it might be, but a couple of years ago where I live, it was difficult to even be seen by a general practician at a clinic for things like colds. Because both the waiting lines and the phone would always be full. I found that going to clinics in much small villages around me helped a lot with that. If you are living somewhere, where healthcare is free. You should be able to get some help at your local hospital. Had a friend go a few times during her hardest times. If nothing else, I really wish you good luck and hope for the best that you'll get the help you need!

@@germainedaniel8720 Yeah, I'm not entirely surprised. Sadly those kind of service do sometime face problems like that, weither it's lack of funds or other red tapes from the government that slow them down.
I'm not sure how much help it might be, but a couple of years ago where I live, it was difficult to even be seen by a general practician at a clinic for things like colds. Because both the waiting lines and the phone would always be full. I found that going to clinics in much small villages around me helped a lot with that.
If you are living somewhere, where healthcare is free. You should be able to get some help at your local hospital. Had a friend go a few times during her hardest times.
If nothing else, I really wish you good luck and hope for the best that you'll get the help you need!
