    Wow. The timing of your posting this video is crazy because I was watching the stork spin video and thought: I would love to learn the lay back spin and like magic it appeared! 😊

      Not to be nosey or poke my head in your business, but the layback is quite advanced for someone learning the stork spin

      @@floraschmidt5892 I’ve been training 5 days a week for 3 years now. I tried this on the ice already to some success, but it definitely needs fine tuning.

      @@floraschmidt5892 In other words, my skating skills are quite advanced but I am now just adding variations onto my very solid one-foot spin/scratch spin. I’m a 40 year old man by the way and rather comfortable with what I’m doing at this point but thanks for your concern…

    Your layback spins are so so beautiful!! Thank you for this tutorial 😍 Centering is so complicated… I’ve been spinning for a while now but I still travel a lot sometimes, getting constant at spinning is the most difficult thing ever

    I’ve had 3 pairs of skates and blades within the past 10 months (I’m on break in #2 after realizing my professional fitting put me into skates that were too wide) and it’s so difficult bringing back my layback from over 20 years ago with my latest skates, not due to flexibility, but due to me having trouble finding the right spot to trust my hips to feel comfortable leaning way back. Different blade length, heel height, width, brand, etc. are throwing me off.

    Coach Julia , i can do a waltz jump , a full rotated axel and a lutz off ice. But whenever I’m on the ice, I’m scared to do it and when I do a simple 2 foot jump I almost fall. Do you have any advice

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Get yourself some hip pads and let yourself fall. That fear of falling is going to hold you back so much.

    Sorry that it’s not that relevant to this video but I struggle with getting my left foot over my right in backwards crossovers. On the other side I can do it so we’ll and it’s my dominant side and it’s the same with forward crossovers. I don’t lift the feet up I push as it’s easier but do I just need to constantly practise ? Or any tips :)

      Years ago it was only done by women, but now we see men doing it in all kinds of variations.
