    Yesterday at the rink , i did my very first two foot spin. Yes i only spun for 5 seconds but it’s still a big goal for me.

      That's great! I was at this point this time last year and now I can do all 3 spin positions (upright, camel and sit) keep going!

    I love your spins and variations! They are so helpful. As an older adult skater, I am wondering if you could show us a basic sit spin and what the minimum degree of sit is! It is really difficult to get as low as the younger skaters into that shoot the duck position also how do you get into the sit from entry, when does leg go out etc.

    I love pancake! It's my favorite sit variations so far. I find it easiest to get into from a nice, centered sit spin, rather than from upright, but my stork spin also needs a little (lot) of TLC so 🙈 One of my coaches always says to think about pulling your chest down to your knee in pancake, rather than your knee up to to your chest as you start pushing the spin lower, and I find that really helps my speed and control in this position.

    Hi Coach Julia, i am about to buy jackson freestyles by second hand but i have some concerns about the blade placement i couldn't find anyone at my local rink to help me out can i somehow send you photos of the skate to take your oppinion if you dont mind?

    i keep spinning after i do my 3 turn and my stomach is never facing the circle after i twist do you have a vid on this i need help 😢

    I normally keep my boots laced right up to the top and it doesn't leave much room for bending at the ankle. Would you suggest leaving off the top hooks to get a bit more flexibility there?

      Hi Friend, I asked the same question to Coach Julia and she said the boot people put the top hook there for a reason. I leave it loose abit at the top and that was cool. I guess it's up to the judges if that's cheating or not. Happy New Year!

      As Tom replied, that top hook is there for a reason. You can choose to leave the top hook a tad looser to help with ankle mobility. My preference for my own skates is just to really get that leather across the ankle bend broken in a bit so that I can bend the boot. Some boots come with a 'flex notch' at the ankle bend that helps with ankle mobility.

      @@CoachJulia Thanks! Paying more attention today I notice my ankles are bending more than they used to so clearly my boots are better worn in now. On the downside I also sprained my wrist a bit when my heels went out from under me getting up from a deep squat - guess I should have leaned forward a bit more! - but oh well, hopefully it'll be better by next time!
