the most beautiful thing about this scene, in my opinion, is how the student places his head against Panditji's chest when they embrace each other. Back when Panditji was still teaching him, the kid used to do that. By doing it again, it shows that he's still the same sweet person. But when Panditji starts hallucinating, the student takes his hand. This shows that he has also changed, for the better. And the look of incredulousness, then sheer bliss when the old man recognizes his former pupil. Beautiful.

Arijit Singh is indeed good, but can we just appreciate Shankar Mahadevan for a minute? He’s not an actor. Yet every expression on his face tells us a whole story. The pain in his eyes in the beginning, when he holds the lamp, knowing it was not possible for him to sing. The way he’s stooped over. The way his hand trembles. The look of utter bliss when he realises that it’s Panditji’s former student. The expression of relief and then heart-wrenching joy when Panditji hugs his daughter. Those are incredible. Many professional actors don’t have so much emotion in their eyes alone. ❤
