Great finds at the Estate sale. Doesn’t matter if the wooden buckets had the lids, you still got something really cool 😎 for a great price. You can use them to hold a small Christmas tree 🎄 or a Primitive Topiary, dried flowers or whatever. Love 💕 the Mark Twain books 📚

Love your finds … you could put your bowling set under your vintage tree with some other vintage toys.
I admire your restraint when being selective. Sometimes it’s not about collecting every piece you see, but about if you have room to style your finds so it looks classy, not junky.
I do, though, absolutely love your collection of Santa mugs behind you.
I hope you soon get an option of a booth so you can keep thrifting and antiquing because you both love it so much.
Style the butter dish with the lid upside down and something in it.
I also love the firkins … you never see those where I live and maybe someday you will find a lid. The older ones have wooden strap handles and wooden strap banding. Later years saw them use wire handles and metal banding.
In the past, I have bought cheap garland from the dollar store and beefed it up myself by putting dollar store lights on it, pine cones I foraged from a neighbour’s yard and other cheap decorations (balls, faux cranberries, etc).
Thanks for showing us your haul 😊

We use our wood bucket for magazines. It doesn't have a lid either, but is still a unique piece.

Cat in the hat! Love it!
Flow blue🥰 cool skeleton key! 🗝
Oh my gosh love the little books! I have 2! 1 says greatest thing in the world and the other says fifty best poems of England mine are in rough shape too but I love them!! Are you selling yours?
Oh man that bowling set is amazing, what a great price too! I’m sure you will work it into something! Maybe one of your topless ironstone bowls!😂 it’s an adorable set!! Man, I wish I can across ironstone!😢 ooooh the bottles and container ❤ I love old ones for my bathroom too! 🥰 Wow the bottom of the butter dish is awesome! Can’t get enough old books😂 Score!
Cool firkins, who cares if they don’t have a lid! You can use them for so many things! Maybe even your bowling set!
Oh no! Your garland🤦🏻‍♀️ don’t get discouraged, Tonya you decorate so beautifully, I have total faith you will come up with so many different ideas without it, just enjoy your favorite time of year!!!❤

@ it depends on the site you go on. I think it’s a form of American ironstone but not really sure.

Your firkin looks like it's an old one to me and even without the lid, the price was really good. The ones with the bail handle usually command a higher price. I actually have firkin in my firkin stack that I bought without a lid and was fortunate enough to find a round wood piece that fit on top and when it's in the stack, you cannot even tell that it doesn't have a lid. I also have another one without a lid because it was so cheap and it sits on a milking stool, holding a topiary. My philosophy anymore is when you find something prim and old and cheap.....don't even worry about imperfections, because there is always a way to use them and they really enhance your decor. Looks like you and Greg really enjoyed another estate sale. Eager to see your Christmas decorations this year.

I looked it up on Google to find out the ages of the firkins
According to the information I got the one with the Staples would be older probably around the 1930s and the one with the bands on it about 1940
Prior to that they probably would have used nails.
I'm not sure how reliable that information is, but regardless they are both really pretty. Don't worry about the lids. I think they are like crocks, they get lost or damaged over the years. For Christmas find a small tree wrapped in burlap and use one of the firkins to hold it.
