I'm glad there is someone preserving the history of one of the most labor saving inventions of all time.

I don't have an account at AW, but I just read your thread there and I wanted to say that your work is truly a labor of love. Thank you for what you do to preserve these machines and keep them in use. Because of restorers like you people like me who are all thumbs can still get good stuff when we need it, and I'm grateful.

My Grandmother had the exact machine. She still had it when she sold her house in 1976 to move to Florida. My Mom had a 1971 Filter Flo from 1971 until she sold her house in 1990. Hers had the Mini Basket too. My Dad was in GE management so everything we had was GE. Beautiful job of restoring. Thanks for the memories.

Some of my first memories are attached to this model washer. We had a 58 Ge Filter Flow until around 1977. I use to climb on top when I was in elementary school and read books by the back light and spin the little chrome knob...(but I would usually fall asleep to that rubbing noise.) You've brought back some great peaceful memories of a better time for me. Thanks for a great restoration and vid!

This washer is outstanding! I like the suds destroyer feature of this machine! Back in 1958 detergents and powdered and granular soaps produced mountains of suds.

This is what you call Vintage perfection! Perfect example of what washers could be like and should be like, quiet, smooth running and can really wash clothes.

This is when GE made quality washers that were workhorses and of good quality.. Not like these plastic cheap crap they produce today

The wash action was second to none especially on dirty clothes and jeans.

I love watching these vintage appliance videos, where they've been restored. It takes me back to a much simpler and happier time. This washer and dryer have the florescent lights in the panels, and I've always thought that feature gave a nice glow, to the dreary task of doing of doing laundry. I sold my home back in the mid 90's, and it had a really old washer with this light, and I left it for the new people. It worked fantastic. Wish I would have kept it. Thanks for posting this great video.

I note the very, very quiet action when operating. Perfect for a kitchen - as opposed to a basement laundry area. [

Very nice units & Restoration. I am quite curious is that AW Forum owned by Fred & Robert from MN? I would love to find an old MW Wards set but those I'm sure are quite tough to find.

When I was a baby one of my little socks went over the tub and jammed the transmission locking it up and burnt it out.

Garbage I hate those washers I made a video of my Whirlpool Washer/Dryer and someone commented "Garbage I hate this washer you should replace it with a HE Top load washer"...I love my washer because it's from 2005 and very minimal repairs have been done to it...It will stick with us until it's age finally takes it over and then I'll probably go on the hunt for a vintage fixture like these...Again, I hate those new HE washers...they are way too technologic and break too frequently...
