I’m confused why you’re saying out of sign sextile? Sextiles are aspects that are at a 60° angle and therefore always out of sign. For instance, water and earth or fire and air signs are sextiles, except for the opposite signs those are oppositions. Maybe I misunderstanding you I am seriously not trying to trash on your work. I think you’re good. I’m just trying to understand.
Thank you for your thoughtful question. You are correct that a sextile is a 60 degrees angle. But in astrology we give an orb (a number of degrees on either side of the 60 degrees). The amount of orb an astrologer gives varies from astrologer to astrologer. I give 7 degrees orb when reading a single chart. So let’s say that Neptune is 29 degrees of Pisces. It would make a exact sextile to a planet at 29 degrees of Taurus or 29 degrees of Capricorn. But because we give an orb, this same Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces would make a sextile to Mars at 0 Gemini or a planet at even 6 degrees of Gemini. Now we have a sextile with incompatible elements (Pisces is water and Gemini is air). So it is said to be out-of-sign. Aspects that can be out-of-sign are conjunction, semi-sextile, sextile, square, trine, inconjunct, and opposition. So the moon at 29 Capricorn is conjunct Pluto at 0 degrees of Aquarius but it is an out-of-sign conjunction. Let me know if this helps.
