  • Hey y'all hope you enjoyed the video. Trying hard to get more content out consistently despite my challenges with setting up new gear. Next time you see this scope will be when I drive it out to SRO, I just got some heaters for it to keep it nice and toasty (and in focus).
If you want to know the whole setup used here it is (with affiliate links because this cost me a fortune):

BTW, The Pony Express was the express mail service of 1860 that delivered mail via horseback. Replaced by the telegraph system after a very short time.

Your processing skills complement nicely the outrageous budgets involved!

I just recently started astrophotography about 5 months ago and I was quickly introduced to your work on astrobin from a Dylan O’Donnell video. I am just learning you have a TH-cam channel. Your work is a big inspiration, I really enjoy your images and processing. I hope to see some processing tips on your channel some day. Thanks for doin what you do! Clear skies.

Thats some post processing skills... The more gadgets for total automation is challenge to start but once you've worked through them gremlins you'll have that rig for mapping the heaven's in high detail...👍

We must be neighbors (of sorts), I’m setting up a remote observatory operation at Utah Desert Remote Observatories in Southwest Utah. I have an FSQ106 on a Paramount MX+ there now and love it but it’s very sensitive to temperature changes and needs frequent focus attention. My grandson 3D printed a spacer for me to center my FlipFlat, I think it helped with getting flat flats.

Great video Bray! I can imagine it’s not easy to fully adjust all that top equipment. But hey don’t worry I think you’ll get this done sooner or later. Looking forward to seeing more amazing images and mosaics with this Takahashi. Btw that Orion is already pretty awesome. Clear skies!

Adding diffraction spikes to a Tak106....seriously? Heresy! Regarding your focus issue, lookig at your imaging train I see what must be a Tak flattener which requires a certain amount of backfocus and there are no other spacers so your only option looks to be a thinner tip/tilt device. Not sure if the Gerd Neumann CTU XL is any thinner at 17.3mm

Bray have you considered installing the WR35 to TAK72 recessed adapter to recess your 0.72x focal reducer to fix your focus travel issue?

my zwo eaf acts up sometimes when I'm at the top of the volcano here on Maui at 10,000ft. I think its because of the extreme cold weather. I always have my bhatinov mask with me for plan B.

Can you please explain Remote Observatory technology, equipment and what it means? Having full control via the couch through wifi is amazing but has its limits on the ASI air. But what is the next step up from that? How can I log into my set-up from anywhere in the world? Is there an Ethernet cable connected inside the observatory to a dedicated router? Thanks!

Looks like you are using the QHY600PH model and not the QHY600PH SBFL (short focus) model. Are you experiencing any significant vignetting from the filter wheel’s distance from the sensor of the QHY600PH even with the 2” filters? Is the dovetail camera connection rigid enough to avoid unexpected camera tilt?

What adapters did you have to get to connect the 0.73x reducer to the Moonlite? I'm struggling to find what I need on their website. I see the tilt adapter before the reducer, but how did you connect the reducer?

Must have a reducer? 645 reducer?
I also have flip flap how long are your narrowband exposures for flats? Mine take about 70sec
