Hi Stacy, I have the same thing and often dream of wearing sandals someday. I did not know that this type of surgery is sooooo expensive. After the surgery could you drive or go to work even if you could sit down. If you could not go to work, how long were you out before you could return. Could you provide more information on how you cared for yourself during this period. This is a non-cosmetic issue for me as I have developed a small and painful callus and my footing is so off balance. I now because of you have the courage to look into this matter as I would just love to wear any type of sandals rather than looking for ones that only expose two or three toe. Good question. I am actually not sure. I have heard of people having the procedure done under Local Anesthesia but once I was told that I would be going under, I obliged. I did not want to be awake for the surgery anyway so I did not protest much. I also know that one costs more than the other so that may be why I had to go under. I do not believe Dr. Lamm does it any other way and he is the best of the best so going under is fine with me.
