That new display looks awesome! Huge fan of the odometer. The last one couldn't do that. My guess for the number is 569 - I have a few projects I could use that multimeter on.

You are clearly the right guy for this job. I thoroughly enjoy watching this thing go from the birds nest of wires it came to you at to a neatly wire managed hummer EV. You should be able to get the charging working without incident, and once that's done the project will be electrically complete.

Nice to see you got stuff working! I'm building an Ev-trainer for professionals and schools to learn how an electric vehicle works. So the extra multimeter would be nice to have 😅. Also learning the CAN system the hard way, so nice to see I'm not the only one struggling. My guess: 242. Good luck on the charging issues!

Loving this series! It’s fascinating to see all of the troubleshooting and hearing your thought process. My guess for the number is 681. I do a lot of projects around the house where this could come in handy. About to replace all of the outlets in my house and this would be great for making sure they’re seeing the correct load after the new outlets are in. And making sure the lines are completely dead before I unplug the old outlets so I don’t zap myself 😅

Congrats on getting the electric Humvee mostly working! Well done! Number guess 314. I plan to use the multimeter to check things when my home gets rebuilt. We had a major house fire on December 21 & they are starting the rebuild soon. PSA: don’t leave bathroom exhaust fans running. It’s 100% certainty it started due to an exhaust fan failure & the fire chief suggested putting them on a timer. When I told a coworker about our mishap, he told me the exact same thing happened to his father in law too. Be careful people.

  • @LeonardChurch33
    @LeonardChurch33 ปีที่แล้ว +1

My guess is 271. That looks like an impressive little meter for $10, I'd probably use it as my every-day-carry multimeter for school (currently studying to be a computer engineer) or keep it in my drone kit for field-maintenance. It would be nice if it had a current mode but you could always throw in a precision shunt resistor and use that to measure current.
Also, have you considered getting a lavalier mic or something for your "talking head" shots? Most of the time they're fine but the intro of this video was pretty quiet and had a fair bit of echo.

Loving the progress! I am certainly curious to see what the charging looks like. As for the multimeter, my guess is 495. I have been needing to replace my meter, as finding leads that work in it is getting impossible (meter is 35+ years old), and the other meter I have is about 75 years old (a treasure from a garage sale, and it still worked) and the leads on it are again different from my regular meter.

A lot of your problems looks like classic bus integrity problems... Reflections, Terminations problems, etc.
For best operation, you should have One continuous twisted pair, with very short taps coming off it. (Shorter the better.) Also, at each end of the twisted pair, you should have Temination -- two total, and no more. Get a pair of 120 ohm, 1/4 to 1/2 watt resistors for the termination.
Check to see if any devices on the CAN Bus have built in termination, and TURN THEM OFF.

    2517.
I plan to do outdoor night-time car photography. I made myself a 12v 40a powerpack with LiPOs with a 1800W 120acv inverter to be able to power two strobes (these are huge, 100w each).
I need to know when to stop to not leech my cells below 20% capacity. So this tester would be useful.
Basically at car meets on a Friday or Sat night, using Adobe Lightroom and my laptop for editing on the spot. It all has to fit inside my Miata.

Personally I wouldn't give that multimeter to anyone. the cheapest I will go is Uni-T. The brand for that multimeter doesn't even seem to exist. Even the ratings don't make sense. "CAT 2 600V, CE, and ROHS Certified" doesn't make sense. ROHS doesn't have a certification really, CE is self certified, not by a third party, and CAT2 is pretty awful. half the outlets in my house don't count as CAT 2 because they are less than 10 meters to the panel.

415 is my guess for the number of volts in the cars circuit. (mind you, this is my first comment on your channel....)
I'm an offroader - last year I crossed Australia's Simpson Desert, 5 days without seeing another vehicle than mine & the one we travelled with) One of these auto-sensing DMMs would be great because you just don't want to mess up when ranging or checking continuity with car or fridges in such remote areas. A zapped ECM can mean the difference between enjoying your holiday and being helicopter rescued. (Or helicopter delivery on a replacement ECM for the car)

480 as in 480volts for his battery at full state of charge…? That’s my guess. Thanks for the opportunity and ps you should reveal the number afterwards so all us losers can know how off we were! Thanks and keep this troubleshooting content coming! 🎉😂❤

3042 I would use this multimeter to help me continue my electrical engineering education as well as helping me with my personal projects. I recently used mine quite effectively to install a new radio and back up camera into my beautiful '15 F55 Mini Cooper S.

Came from Zac's video about the car's progress, and I am happy to see it's nearly ready... Is the speed unit display within the speedometer a bit too small for your eyes (while the RPM gauge is taking up all the space ), or is it just on the video? Would having a larger speed unit display while on the road not be a good idea? I pick up 214 as my number...

621- i've been doing a few projects on my car, like wiring backup cameras and honestly kinda winging it without a multimeter, It'd be of great help if I could have one of those :)

I cannot find my multimeters. There's two of them and both are missing. I suspect my cat, but I could be wrong. So, one of these would be amazing! I choose the number 0191.

Love this content, you guys make amazing content. My guess is going to be 53. Keep up the figuring out, you will get there eventually. I actually will buy one even if I dont win. I need to test solar connections on my solar farm I am making.
