Darkwave from the 80‘, and so good music, this is my youth, i am 2024 55 years old, and i remember me on this good times for music!

I was a bit later late 90s early 2000s we did describe ourselves as goths. Looking back we definitely were. Maybe a bit of color like red plaid pants and red, blue hair. I remember the girls wore the black jeans with skirts over them. But I remembered the emo kids were all freshmen and we didn’t like them

I turned 20 in 1980 and I used to look just like that in the early to mid Eighties. Wonderful times, lost forever.
This new generation has no clue about how cool we were in the 80’s!

I sent this to my college daughter to show what we did(Not exactly the same but similar) back in the 80's and early 90's. She and her friends were amazed and wished their generation did this. To dance to music that touched you in the soul and mind, to get out expression, anxiety, frustration, depression, or whatever..... That was our church. glad I was a part of it.
Oh believe me goths do that nowadays. It's just that life is a lot more busy than it used to and events like that don't happen as often unless you drive all over the place.

Apologies if this has already been posted but Darkways is actually a newish artist from Spain, Marc Perez, with his first release in 2016, DARKWAYS. NEON LIGHTS was just released early last year. I was born in ‘71, so growing up with this style of music I’m amazed how he nails the sound so well.

80,s music on all day depeche mode human league etc I almost weep when I think of the great times I had and NO mobile phones
Same here. Left school 1981. Started as an apprentice mechanic at British coal. Apprentice money was shit. My first take home pay was £48. Samuel Smiths bitter was 48p a pint in the local. You could have a hell of a night out on £5 and still have money for the chip shop on the way home. That £48 a week went a long way back then.

Pero resulta que en España en esa época estábamos a la vanguardia a nivel clubes discoteca, moda para vestir que se tuneaba mucho la ropa en 80s principio de 90s.en Valencia del 85 al 89 tuvimos un boom de grupos Ingleses y de otros sitios .actuando en estas discos famosas.

I am 38 now and I have always been a metalhead,black and death metal mostly but now as I got older I really started enjoying goth (any sort of goth and dark whatever)..I mean I was always into darkest form of music,even enjoying doomcore,darkcore,funeral doom..but now old school goth is what suits my soul the most.

Man, hard to believe this song was produced just a few years ago. It really sounds like from the early 80s. Many have tried to make "retro" songs but you can notice they are modern, but this one really sounds old.

Great track….reminds me of my youth as a student in Lancaster (UK) in the mid 80’s and all the great little indie/goth clubs before the scourge that was…”acid house” swept them all away…..

People who got into goth post 80s will likely struggle to understand what the scene really was. The air was different. The messed up politics and depressed economy, the looming presence of HIV, the nuclear war PSAs on TV - it all lead to an explosion of creativity and love of dark glamour as we kicked back against the void. I imagine there are many parallels with Weimar-era German, particularly Berlin.
For those who got into goth in the 90s or later, times had changed and they inherited a scene that was already done. That spark was gone. Now we have a scene that’s inspired by that spark. It’s a very different thing from being the spark itself.
I do like a lot of stuff that has come out of the genre since then, but it’s not the same because it’s not riding the cutting edge of anything. It’s rooted in the past. Thats fine, but it just can’t have the same electricity or creative authenticity.
I didn’t waste a moment of those years, but I’d love to go back and do it all again!
