    Tom is a hidden gem. Not many people know who he is, but he is one of the best ADs in the country.

    Tom's dad used to cut my hair in the mid-late 1980's when I was a little kid. His dad had pictures of Tom all over his barbershop when Tom played with the San Francisco 49ers when they won Super Bowls. Tom is a legend! BYU is lucky to have Tom running things at BYU!

      With OU, Texas, A&M, Colorado, Missouri, and Nebraska gone Tech might have a chance to win more than 7 games a year.

      @@ReisterJP I'm not a FB guru, but I'm pretty sure TTU beat both OU and UT last year. I also remember that CU and MU left the conference partially because of UT and their money politics. Nebraska and A&M both hated getting beat, so they also left the conference for more fertile recruiting. Most of the schools you listed are big money schools and have been for a very long time. Do you have a point, or are you just bashing? Of those you listed, OU is about the only team I would possibly bet on in a contentious game, and after last year they really need to prove it again. UT should be a good team this year, but they mostly seem to underperform for the last many years. I'm not trying to rile you, just curious why you chose to attack a non-power/money school (not that CU is a power school, I don't know where that part came from). Peace, Love!!

    Tom is simply an awesome dude. I had a meeting with him which was LDS church related. But he had me meet him in his office at BYU. I was warmly greeted by Chad Lewis when i entered the office. He led me to Toms personal office. After my meeting, Tom took me on a tour for like 45 minutes of the student athlete building facilities. He showed me the trophies, weight room, Nike shoe room (so many orange boxes 😱), etc. He didn't have to do that for me. But he did and for that i am eternally grateful to him. He's a good man.

    BYU should have been a P5 long before Utah.

    • @THEeyepatch11
      @THEeyepatch11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ...but they weren't. Why is that? Because your team has always been a wannabe P5 with fluke accolades that BYU has never duplicated that were achieved when they were playing in the weak WAC. Zero BCS/NY6 bowls. 27 years of irrelevance but yeah, the tds definitely should have been P5 before Utah. Hilarious.

      @@THEeyepatch11 BYU has plenty that Utah doesn't have. A Heisman trophy winner, several Super Bowl winning quarterbacks. A nationally recognized brand with a large fanbase.
      Utah is very stupidly burning bridges they might have to cross with their arrogance. If they end up in the Big 12, they will immediately become the villain everyone hates. The minute BYU alum Whittingham decides to hang it up, Utah will fade just like the conference they are in.

    • @THEeyepatch11

      @@danjohnson8556Nobody cares. The Pac-12 didn't care and even the Big XII didn't care back in 2010.
      Remember, your team hasn't done squat in 27 years, I mean seriously, how old were you 27 years ago?

      @@THEeyepatch11 😂 it’s a reason why they never joined a P5. It was more about their beliefs and it didn’t pair with any conference. Had nothing to do with anything you said.

    Some notes on our amazing AD, Mr. Holmoe: the man holds four SuperBowl rings. FOUR!!! He earned 3 as a player (49ers) and one as a coach. Not too many ADs with that on their resumes. He's going down as a legend at BYU for what he did to shepherd us through independence and to get us into a P5 conference after decades of believing we had earned that privilege with our fanbase, national title, Heisman, Doak Walker awards, Outland trophies, etc. Tom does his job with incredible integrity and extreme competence. BYU receives no funding from the sponsoring church - the athletic program is mandated to be self-funding in its entirety. And, every last brick of any facility is paid for in advance. So there are some tough requirements to adhere to at BYU as an AD, and Tom has been amazing. And make no mistake - despite his very pleasant demeanor, Holmoe is a stone cold killer as a competitor. I know he can't stay AD forever, but I hope he sticks around long enough to build a very strong foundation in the Big12.

    • @CougarFan827
      @CougarFan827 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not only are all buildings paid for in advance, each building must have an endowment that will provide for maintenance and repairs in perpetuity before the foundation is poured.

      Funny stuff and yet still weren't invited to a P5 conference until the Big XII's flagship teams announced their departure to the SEC. Pathetic.

      Yep, as a non-religious BYU fan, I’d love it if the church spent some of that 100 billion they’ve been hiding on the football program. That said, they probably shouldn’t since it wouldn’t really be fair to the millions of church members that aren’t BYU fans. I think even a few of the GA’s are Utah fans. It is just a game after all.
