Its been 9yrs+ since Prasads Multiplex removed IMAX in 2014.Once HYD had world's 3rd largest and India's largest IMAX.But since 9yrs HYD is the only Tier-1 city that doesn't have an IMAX,even Tier-2 cities in other states have One.
Prasads didn't upgraded to IMAX digital and later their licence got expired.But,reason for other multiplex chains not trying to bring imax is :
Some say price caps by govt will make IMAX projectors unaffordable,some say due to some politics between the chains.
Before 2014,people from across the country use to come hyd to watch films in Prasads IMAX. Now IMAX lovers in hyd are travelling to other states to experience imax. Such a situation for a happening city and tech hub like Hyderabad.
