We just googled the Hartcliffe Inn for pictures and there are several excellent pics of it. One is taken on a bright and sunny day and there are people outside sitting at a picnic table and it looks like there is an apartment upstairs that runs the length of the building. Looks nice.
I lived in Cornwall for 20 years and had many a pint in the swordfish, not a bad boozer but certainly not rough, i'm originally from Chesterfield and that was one rough town when i was a young lad, the pubs there made places like the swordfish look like a kindergarten.

The last bloke I walked past I said something like " How you going mate ? " in my best NZ accent and he said ' Thank fuk for that, we thought you were a fuking Englishman' Had a piss and got a few handshakes on the way out. Phew.
