I was interested that Ram uses metric. New Alternators and starters now relatively cheap. We don't rebuild anymore. For old diesels, high speed starters, if available, are great in cold. Interesting video. Thank you.
Thanks man! You can always count on TH-cam to help you with your specific problem. Luckily my starter gave it's dying breath in O'Reilly's parking lot 😂 I went in for a $4 inline fuel filter, and then had to go back in for a starter haha
I have a 2020 Limited 6.4 Megacab 2500, just over 50k miles. Similar to others, the starter replacement fixed the no-start problem (unfortunately, I replaced the battery first). Note that the heat shield can be put on prior to installing the starter, so do this at your bench first, especially if you are not swapping in a comfortable environment (we got a foot of snow this week, so not ideal conditions).
Can the heat shield be put on first (i.e., at the bench)? I have to do the starter swap out in the snow, so it would be nice to do that at the work bench before going outside.
Thanks for the instructions sir. Not the most detailed but also not really required. Kinda cool you added the tools need at the end. 👍
Thanks for the video. It took me 45 minutes to R&R the starter, Saved me about $250 for labor.

good to know - thx
Would it make a loud winding noise & no turnover?
Torque, farmer tight! Seriously, that was in a Deutz tractor service manual
