If people would finally realise how useless those cycles are. 1. The glowplugs keep glowing for quite a while after the light goes out. They dont turn off just because the light does. 2. The system is "smart" Letting them "glow" a 2nd time means they get much less current as they are already hot.
Cars with start buttons use the glow plugs automatically before it cranks the engine. You push start, the glow plugs glow how much they feel for it, then the engine cranks. One thing that people learn is to give the starter a break after starting a couple of times. They get incredible hot even when it's really cold temperatures outside.
nothing wrong with this car. its just the owner that doesn't know how to handle a cold start for a diesel. he didn't let the cycle to heat the glow plugs run for a few seconds even.
Didn’t they tell the idiots who own diesel BMWs that they have to wait for the “spiral” light to go out? And only then can and should you start the engine.
Push button starters will wait on their own. The driver doesnt have to do anything. If they dont start its mostly because of: Glow system failure, injectors faulty, battery too weak or its colder than the fuel was made for.

Still better than NOT using them at all.@@Woelkchen1515

X5 owner didnt give glow plugs a chance
Cause all she learned is turning the key
Based.
That x5 took forever, hopefully my 335d won’t be that bad

He's i think has a problem with the glow plugs. Because i have Bmw x5 35d 2011 and it just started with the first time in -28.5c.
My 335d starts with less than a second cranking at -8C.

@@Woelkchen1515 In this case it was not a push-button system.
