There’s something about this OST that just really hits right. I’ve been reading Tower of God for a while and was so excited when I learned that Kevin Penkin, the man himself, creator of masterpieces like Made in Abyss’s rumble of scientific triumph and Shield Hero’s sexy isekai saxophone would be cooking up soundscapes, character themes, and everything in between of the official original soundtrack for the series. The moment I saw the news, I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing the job as well as he could, and I was not proved wrong. Mr. Penkin has this awesome eclectic and unique style that is exactly what a story as mysterious and complex as Tower of God needs. For example, this main theme here really does everything a main theme should, which is “summarize” the show. This can be by smart use of leitmotifs or other musical techniques, but this piece relies purely on emotion and effect. At first, we hear epic and mysterious choirs, a menacing yet intriguing sound that draws you into the piece further, just how Rachel’s monologue about the promises of the tower drew not only Rachel and Bam but you as the reader/viewer in and made you crave more of its mysterious world. Then at 1:45, the main leitmotif of the series chimes in, a sad and almost disturbed sound as you and Bam realize the tower isn’t sunshine and rainbows. Instead we are faced with the true nature of the tower, despair, betrayal, and death. But that won’t stop us. At 2:34, we start to follow Bam’s determination, the promise of the top of the tower and his quest to reunite with Rachel. We start meeting a great cast of characters and they form an inseparable party that can conquer any test the examiners lay before them. At 2:58, we start to get the buildup of the last few tests of the final floor, Bam reminiscing on his time in the cave (from those ambient vocal/rap sounds, I remember hearing them when Rachel found Bam) and everybody using the last of their strength to push forward in a climactic battle to get to the next floor... at 3:46 the same chants of the tower come in, signifying that we’re almost there, the tower lies just ahead, we can do it, and then... 4:18... push. A shocked open note of betrayal and disbelief. The piece ends, as does the tension between Bam and Rachel after she achieves her goal and Bam is sent plummeting into the abyss. But this isn’t only the story of Bam and Rachel’s end. It’s also the story of their beginning. This isn’t Bam’s theme, or Rachel’s theme. It’s Tower of God’s theme. It’s the theme of the Irregular, trying to climb the tower against all odds, the irregular deemed as a god even though they don’t want to be. An “Irregular God.” In short, this is a masterful piece by Kevin Penkin, a favorite composer of mine! I really like to break down music and his tracks give me plenty of material to chew on. Attack on Titan and Tower of God I feel both benefited from composers who had a brilliant sense of the the soundtrack for their respective shows should sound. Hiroyuki Sawano delivered, what is in my opinion, one of the best soundtracks ever. Taking all three season of AoT’s ost together it is a masterpiece. Similar to Kevin Penkin here, Hiroyuki blends in vocals with beautiful score and something he does brilliantly is including pieces of lore in some of the lyrics for those who play close attention. I hold Hiroyuki Sawano to an incredibly high standard and Kevin Penkin has brought out various tracks that remind me of Sawano, especially in Made in Abyss. I think Kevin has a knack for making soundscapes in these surreal yet beautiful fantasy worlds like Made in Abyss and now Tower of God. His soundtracks elevate these anime into something close to a masterpiece. For me Abyss was amazing because of how it’s ost complemented the world around the characters. All in all I just love music and I absolutely love Kevin Penkin.

At the TOP of this Tower existsts everything in this world....
INCLUDING KEVIN PENKIN'S TOG OST
"tsubete..."
2:32 this insane🤯 thus why i love this bgm
Kevin penkin goes hard
IT'S HERE!
Thank you for this masterpiece Kevin
When we needed him most...he returned
Imagine this soundtrack in the Data Jahad vs Bam fight 😔💥🔥
tbh I think it would fit better with the floor of death
@@chrislee1133 yeah when he knows about his relation with tower his history this would just make the hype epic hope siu comes back
even tough I agree 100% witcha, thank god I read the webtoon cause HOMIE MARK THAT SHIT AS A SPOILER 😭
I heard his song so hard when Bam learned to fight his own way against Jahad
Damn, bro
Bro wtf is this?!?!? Goosebumps deluxe! This is some OG ghost in the shell level music...
after descending to the bottom of the Abyss now I'm climbing the tower
and *that's* going in my dnd playlist
It's like when the composer was told that he'd be making a track for a story called "Tower of God", he decided to write every song like he was having a religious experience.
Wish this song was in season 2. one of the best soundtracks for an anime I have ever heard. Everytime this song would come on i got goosebumps.
Same omg
it was in episode 22 i think right at the beginning
Kevin Penkin won best anime score of 2020!!! Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Kevin, your OSTs slapped really hard on both Made in Abyss and Tower of God. Keep up your godlike work, I hope to see your stuff in more shows!
Hands down one of the best ost ive heard
I'm not gonna lie, I teared up because of how amazing the 2:33 part is. Definitely in my top 10 songs of all time(Maybe top 5).
God, the anime combined with the soundtracks had me orgasming in every way imaginable.
ToG is by far the best anime i have watched in all of my years of watching anime.
Kevin Penkin is such a god, I love this kind of soundtrack, mystical, epic and full of emotion. Perfect for the show
2:20 damn that's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.
What a fucking
master piece. This music just fit perfectly with the mysterious yet dark and the atmosphere of tower of god.
Just this whole album is so unbelievably good it deserve much more. Like game of thrones, lord of the rings, harry potter level of succes.
Imagine Jahad's theme or Enryu's or Urek's. Omg it will be so great! I don't think any anime will be able to surpass ToG's hype levels once it reaches the Last Station arc. Right now AoT has that insane level of hype but the thing is... it's the last season of AoT but when ToG will reach the Last Station it won't be even half way through! I expect the Nest arc to break the internet some day. It will be like Season 7 of the anime.
I really hope the series is able to keep going. There's so many scenes I want to see beautifully animated.
It's sad how underrated ToG really is.
Tho ngl, AoT's pretty sick too.
@@gabbyn.3049 If adapted well I think ToG could be the next big hype show. But seeing how they handled Season 1 I have literally 0 excitement. Great Webtoon was turned into a mid show. Shame. Let's just hope for the reboot because if they continue adapting ToG with this shaky foundation that season 1 gave us, we can expect the next seasons to suffer from it too "because of the lack of explanation."
Worldbuilding is one of the MAIN advantages of ToG and cutting it = ruining the show. It simmilar to cutting all the fights from God of Highchool.
@@xgerra16 I personally see ToG as another One Piece. But I hope the anime team knows what they're doing.
Gabby N. I never understood that One Piece comparison. Aside from the length and world building, they are completely different. ToG is closer to AoT. Both have mysteries, action and unpredictable plot. The only difference is that ToG is bigger and has to deal with a much larger cast of characters.
Been waiting for this! Definitely going to cop the vinyl!
I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT MADE IN ABYSS AS I LISTEN TO THIS
Welcome to TH-cam dude!
Can't wait for cool stuff
2:33
Whenever I accomplish something, this part starts playing in my head automatically
OMG AMAZING WORK FOR AN AMAZING STORY 😭 thank you so much Kevin!
I really hope they paid you handsomely to compose these absolute masterpieces!
Thanks for bringing my favorite series to it's highest potential
2:56 Omg the chills here... The magic of Kevin Penkin's composition convinced me to check this show out alr! Such perfect music!! The only other show that did that was GiTS SAC and Cowboy Bebop... Damn... quality stuff!!
YESSSS SO EXCITED !!!
This OST music is so unique, I absolutely love how it pairs with Tower of God. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to listen to the rest !!!
I know the wholeI know the whole song is amazing, but there are two moments where the emotion is at its peak. Its 1:45 as a beginning and epic moment at 2:32. Congratulations to the composer with all my heart.
2:33 goosebumps..
I just transcend reality
작곡자가 진짜 천재같다.. 이런 분위기 곡 처음들어봥
I’ve barely been able to sleep for the past 3 nights because these tracks are playing in my head.
I’m sure others are having similar issues so maybe someone can tell me how they got themselves to stop levitating?
It’s cool and all it’s just I sleep with my ceiling fan on and I broke my nose last night.
Plz adviiz
i no exactly what ur talkin about. i ended up wrapping a bungee cord around my waist and headboard... good luck!!
I feel you dude honestly I found myself flying among the clouds in a superhero suit baring the "EE" logo from the tower of God clothing brand at the center of my chest While alongside aisian dragons triggering eternal lighting flashes and heavy fall upon The Chinese , Japanese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Philipino,Thai , Indonesian, and Indian Country sides. Apparently my powers weaken when the TOG ost ends 😂😂😂😂😂
This gave me chills when it played in episode 13
I just love the scale at which everything happens in tower of god
They’ll need a huge freaking budget to adapt Season 3. Things that happen there can’t be described by words, that’s how insane and complex it is.
@@xgerra16 when is season 3 I just read in chapters
@@xgerra16 do you mean the train and all the stations?
I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK!! Tower of God has some of the most beautiful posts I've ever heard out of all the anime I've watched
I LOVE YOU KEVINNNNNNNNN
3:20 to 3:35 bro WTF, it's the best part of a song I heard in my life.. I'm traveling through gates of heaven, to the Death, to God.. but I'm not in this World.. amazing
That's the best OST ever
Recommend made in abyss soundtrack then same guy did it before this anime and it’s godly
@@lalaland9838 Which OST precisely ? I'm not sure I can find a better OST than this one haha
If this OST doesn't win the Crunchyroll award... I really don't know how you can best this
Kevin Penkin Won....... DEFINITELY DESERVED IT!!!
I love the season 1, it is a masterpiece, I've just finished reading Webtoon and I am up to recent chapters, this OST and all OPs and EDs in this show are so f amazing. 11/10
Just started watching tower of god today. And just after the first 2 episodes I fell in love with the soundtrack
This theme suits the tone of the entire webtoon as a whole. How
Since Made in Abyss you’ve been pumping out these God tier scores that leave my ears wanting more. Thank you Kevin!
I think its the three bell strikes that does it for me. It always presents an image of a huge face breaking through our atmosphere then it grins with a mouth that has too many teeth for it to make sense. The choire represents the collective human response. What can we do but stand there in absolute awe and dismay?
Great description, you must a very interesting irregular lol
Guess October 16th is when I'll start rereading the series from the beginning, then.
As an extremely dedicated Tower of God (Webtoon version) fan, thank you so much for this.
Really.
I can't believe how well Penkin captured the feel of grandness and scale this series has so well in the OSTs. They just fit so well! :')
@@danielrodrigues4903 exactly. It almost feels like the Webtoon was made for the soundtrack, instead of the other way round.
That's just how much of a good job Kevin did
Me: doesn’t have the urge to watch tower of god
*finds out Kevin Penkin composed the soundtrack*
Me: 👀 *gets on crunchyroll*
its insane binge it right away
This is the very reason why I watched the show.
Me too! I wasn't too interested in the subject. I only watch it to enjoy the awesome music. On a different note, I think they need to be better sound editor. Sometimes, the music cuts off at odd times so the scene transitions were not smoothed and feels choppy. Or Penkin needs more music to fit certain parts of the scene.
@@cookiebazookie I absolutely disagree, ive rewatched tower of god 7 times now. yes its excessive i just really enjoyed it. and I blast it with my surround sound because I loved the music so much. my dad is a sound editor for a living so ive grown up to love unique editing. A lot of the songs are mixed instead of 1 song per scene. I dont recall it ever ending abruptly or weirdly.......
How did you not want to watch tog 😳
Bro it is one of the best
This ost is probably one of the best ost i've ever heard
Props to you cuz you made this amazing ost
Finally ❤️
I feel the shinsu flowing through me
1:05 from this part onwards like omg it perfectly like fits TOG
CONGRATS ON BEST SCORE👏👏👏👏👏❤
MASTERPIECE
i come back to this every now and then, IT'S AN INSULT TO KEVIN that crunchyroll doesn't care about tower of god, this could have been the next masterpiece, like made in abyss has been but they decided to butcher it
@@Mr.Nobody88888if u're talkin about s1 only, i'm with u, the animation was on top, the soundtrack was on top and although they skipped on some plotlines and character development we got a solid s1
s2 was garbage, no matter how u turn it, this could have been way better if they cared, but they simply didn't and ruined it
manga readers don't get caught up in accuracy, we appreciate the work for what it is and r just sad to see it gets so little love for the anime adaption, the world of tower of god has so much to offer
if u enjoyed the s2 diashow, good for u bro, but for my part i didn't like urek_vs_bam.png :pepega:
Great work turtle !
You don’t understand how you have graced us... october 16th will be the day we have climbed the tower
Most epic ost in anime PERIOD
Your OST is the most beautiful OST I heard in years. I love you Kevin! Thank you for making this!
its just masterpiece, i have no words
