@@Cora-bz8pv I play percussion in my band sometimes because it was the first instrument I played before I switched to oboe. Percussion definitely comes with a lot of responsibility. Depending on who your band director is, how long you band has been playing, and what type of school you go to can influence how reliant your band is on each other. Like my band doesn’t heavily rely on percussion because we are all second and third year players, unlike our beginning band, who all rely on each other to get themselves through songs (they are AMAZING nonetheless)

I had to solo and learn percussion by myself. We actually played this and some other songs in front of actual people and kindergarteners I had no idea what I was doing. I was just sitting there looking at the music lost because I had no idea what any of the notes where my teacher didn’t tell me what I was supposed to be doing let alone teach me the names of the instruments. I asked her if I could play cello for the nonet, she said no. But the other 6th grader was able to play her viola which I didn’t get so I quit the nonet.
