  • Lets take a look at Guangzhou - a city of 15 million people famous for its Canton Fair. China is very modern and probably not what you might expect.

      @Thanya Tai It's you who don't know what Indians thinks of china. All the Indians always praise china for the growth it had acquired in all these years. China and India who have similar kind of population and who were equals till 1990. Ever since 90s, China took a huge turn and we Indians know about it and that's why all of us see china as an inspiration because of how similar we are. So, The problem comes with Chinese governments with its anti-India rhetoric. China always went against India at UN, Never supported India, Working with India's greatest enemy and calls it it's best friend(though it's china dog actually, Pakistan), Rejects India's membership at NSG. So, China never supported us but we were still fine. Also, we knew about china's expansionist movement with it's neighbors but we never bothered about it but when they came at our doors which resulted in Indian soldiers getting killed, that's when all hell broke lose. Before this incident, I used to think that China and India being two largest nations who will become the most powerful nations in the world after some time should work together as best friends as their growth is inevitable but Just like how US wants to contain china, China also wants to do the same with India as it's the only nation in the world to be the potential competitor of china. You should know that India had a soft side for everyone, All the wars on India were started by others, in recent time, by pakistan and china. So, India was never an aggressor but china which is acting with its growing power is acting much more aggressive than any other country on the planet. So, Yeah, I do admire china and it's cities but it's government is real fucked up.

    That's very interesting. Most foreigners will treat Chinese security personnel as policemen because of similar uniforms, so they feel that there are too many Chinese policemen. But on the contrary, the number of police per capita in China is smaller than most western countries, and the security personnel on the street are only responsible for their companies.
    In addition, to understand China, firstly, you must treat China as a continent, not a country. Because in China, the area and population of a province are equivalent to the entire country of most Western countries. No one would think that France and Germany are exactly the same country. Similarly, different provinces have very different economic and cultural situation in China. A city as developed as New York is China, and as backward as some Central Asian countries is also China. In such a big country, there is only one constitution and one criminal law, so all laws in China will take care of the interests of every group without being biased. If a proposal is supported by 99% of people in China, it is not a good proposal. Because the remaining 1% of the population is 14 million people, it is unforgivable to violate their interests. After understanding these, looking at China, maybe you will have a different idea.

    • @tanjim4487
      @tanjim4487 4 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Nicely put. Problem is, people who always complain about China don't really want to understand China. When you just take the demographics of China into consideration it starts to make a lot of sense why China is the way it is. I remember when Chinese cities built for 240,000 people were called ghost cities then i heard when the project was completed they filled up in months! People can't really fathom the sheer size of China.

I wrote quite a lot words because sometimes I really couldn't stand these biased thinking. I'm living in BW in Germany right now and if you have interest I can show you any evidence to prove that. In fact, the Chinese government's propaganda ability abroad is very weak, otherwise people in the world will not look at China like that today. Actually, under the propaganda of the Western media, ordinary Europeans and Americans cannot accept any clarification from China. I can only say, don't believe anyone, just go and see for yourself! Dude, I don’t mind you thought me as a robot or a paid propagation tool. In fact, I am grateful to everyone who is curious about China. I thought it would be better for me to explain some parts confused you guys, and you guys might know this video and this city better. I am a Chinese. 1) it is true that there are many " uniform" people on the street( in fact, some of them are volunteers ) because Guangzhou is a city with millions of population so that even a little accident might lead to lots of people hurting; 2) the purpose of those CCP slogans is to encourage people having positive attitudes toward life. it just likes " freedom makes us better". 3) it is true that the locals like eating many foods because of that this city is an immigrant city with different cultures, Asian, Africa, America, and Europe.4) the reason some people sing in the local parks is not because of money. singing is their hobby. just like you playing soccer with your friends is not because you want to make living for that. by the way, I REALLY like your channel.

      Vito Scaletta lol I know why. Let me explain both deeper.
      You can clearly see some of uniform people are fatter and older (volunteers or temporary workers). Those guys just are supposed to find something dangerous and to let the real police know.
      And about the 2, if you are willing to spend a little bit time learning Chinese, you would know what those slogans mean.
      And to let you believe it. I copy some of the slogans in Chinese, you check them and use google to translate them. 富强 民主 公正 法制 爱国 敬业 诚信 友善(before you translate those words, you can check Whether or not such words look like what you saw in the video.) hahaha

      😢🙄THIS VIDEO IS A LIE , ITS MADE TO DISCOURAGE PPL TO VISIT CHINA, SO THAT PPL DONT SEE THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTYAND ITS BEAUTIFULppl and will come to know whatevernegativethey hear abt china is wrong and oppositeof truth. . WE HAVE BEEN to China and that's when we realized this. We hv visited many countries and figured NEVER BELIEVE MEDIA. Media is ALWAYS POLITICAL WITH AGENDAS, SPECIFICALLY AMERICAN AND INDIAN MEDIA AND OF OFCOURSE MANY OTHER COUNTY 'S MEDIA LIKE EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ETC. BOTTOM LINE WHEN MEDIA SAYS THESE COUNTRIES, people, community, books, political system, political party, phenomenon, medicine , medicine system, etc are great- its mostly the opposite and similarly when it's made famous and spread out that this and that country, political system, president, prime minister, community, people, books, disease , school/college etc etc are bad- again mostly its the OPPOSITE, MEANING ITS ACTUALLY GOOD. SO whatever news, magazine, Facebook, books etc tell you - BELIEVE the opposite.

    Had the opportunity to visit Guangzhou for 3 days during my Hong Kong trip. A very beautiful and large city with so much to see, I think one week would be required to see everything. Really hard to get around when you don't understand the language, we had the hotel staff to write down the name of one of the most famous temples, yet we were not able ot find it. On the other hand all subway stations are called in both English and Cantonese and many young people now can talk English. Unfortunately it was very foggy during the whole visit, but still one of the best most amazing places I have ever visited!

    I speak English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. I can get by in German and Italian. I have had private tutoring in Russian and Mandarin. Unfortunately, when I visited Guangzhou in 1999, my Mandarin was of minimal use because of the emphasis on everyone learning it--but I found few who spoke it and Cantonese is very different. Having been in the travel industry for more than 20 years I have never been anywhere I have not enjoyed (34 countries). I never expected anyone to speak English--it was my responsibility to learn something about the country I was visiting and at the minimum some useful phrases so I could be gracious to my hosts. A smile and some hand gesturing will get you a long way. Guangzhou has grown so much since I was there 20+ years ago. I would love to go back.

Then you can park anywhere by the road and it only costs about 0.1USD/hour, super cheap and enviroment-friendly. 2nd: Why do many high-rise building have iron fence? That's to protect from something dropping or naughty kid might climb or fall down, so a lot of families like to have that for safety issue.

    • @hackashaq8
      @hackashaq8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      @@kaysonmao7976 that doesn’t change my statement. Where does the Canton in Cantonese refer to? Also talking about dilution lmao HKers can’t even string a canto sentence together without inserting a few English words here and there 😂 even with more mandarin speakers in Guangzhou now there are still more Cantonese speakers in GZ (who don’t dilute the language with incorrectly pronounced English half the time) than all of HK combined. There are also 10 times as many Canto speakers in mainland China (Guangdong and Guangxi) than all of HK. Honestly it’s laughable when HK youths seem to think Cantonese originated from HK and get surprised when they hear a mainlander speak the language they thought originated from HK 😂 it’s CANTONese. @kaysonmao7976 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@hackashaq8 The Chinese government doesn't even care about preserving Cantonese heritage, this explains what's happening in schools and ironically Canton speakers in Guangzhou are starting to become the minority. As for hk the entire local population still speak Cantonese as their mother tongue. These are facts, not even an argument. And are you really gonna mock the English of hkers? 90% of the mainland Chinese population can barely speak out a sentence in English, and that's being generous. I might say close to 95%.

I can however see that superiority mindset from you though, thinking HKers are apparently a class above mainlanders 😂 thats literally the reason I put down the last sentence in my last comment. This superiority mindset from hongkongers need to go. They are not “above” someone just because they’re south of the border. I’m literally spitting out facts and statements there for you. But seems like you have to politicise everything with some sort of HK superiority mindset. You started with bashing GZ and the “mandarin dilution” so naturally I’m gonna tell you that HK isn’t all glory and a supposed canto heaven 😂

    I love the point when you talk about the "security cameras" everywhere. YHeah that is true China has the most minitoring cameras in the world. But guess what, if you are not a crime or you do not illegal things no one will trouble you, also, it is so convenience to solve the problem you have when you have a "video prove" because that provides evidence which can avoid bunch of unnasseccary protocols which will waste your time. I live in Boston few years ago, my delivery was destroyed few times, my food was stolen downstairs few time, my car was smashed and my staff lost in the car, I called 911 but the police officer jsut can't do anythign about it. Because the "human right" is so important even sometimes it protect bad guys not general citizen's human right like me! I would rather live somewhere safe and peaceful because I am not guity, I am pretty happy with my life and these cameras do not impact my life at all. You can say there is no human rights or too many survillence in China, but someday if you get in trouble and feel powerless to solve it I hope you are not wish to have a camera above your head.
