  • I have been wanting to get into scale boating but never really pursued it until this came my way on our last Metro Marine Modellers AGM. It’s a WWII US Navy PT109 1/32 Scale Boat by Lindberg models. PT stands for Patrol Torpedo Boat and PT109 was a boat Captained by the late US president Lieutenant John F. Kennedy which was launched on June 20, 1942 and delivered to the US Navy on July 10,1942. It was fitted out by the New York Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn.
The US Navy ushered in the 80’ long PT boats starting on PT103 with various armaments. PT109 was fitted with 3 - 4500 horsepower Packard 4M-2500 V12 water cooled gas engines with a total weight of 57 tons loaded with armaments and a top speed of 41 knots.
Research tells me that this a reboxed 1999 Lindberg Model 70813 JFK PT109 1/32 Scale Plastic Model with a length of 29 1/2”, beam of 8”, and a height of 9” using a single brushed 300 can motor driving a dual output gearbox to two propellers.
    10 hours into the build. 20231107 👍👊😎🇵🇭
